Reservists go to a short course that overlaps the longer course. I believe it is about 3-4 weeks and it is very condensed. You will be at BOLC for their time in the field. While there, you will take classes that the long-coursers have already taken while in garrison the prior 5 weeks as well as completing the field activities. Enjoy your time there as best you can. BOLC was a party with classes and 3 field trips thrown in.
Hello Everyone,
My branch manager contacted me via email to give me heads up to prepare for the August BOLC. I'm excited but I have no official orders yet, so I'm little anxious. I need to break my lease and move prior to leaving for BOLC. Hoping that it doesn't take long for official written confirmation of the orders:uhoh3:
Hey I'm so happy that someone on here is actually going to the August class. I have not received my orders yet either. Im hoping they come real soon since I am skeptical about buying my uniforms and plane ticket if I don't have the definite orders. This has been a long process and I was told many things that didn't end up happening. But I talked to the major who is in charge of the special program I'm going to be in and he said I already had my duty station ( fort bliss) on file. What is your identifier? I am going straight to the OR course after bolc.... Hope to hear from u and can't wait to go!!!
I haven't purchased my uniforms or plane ticket either for the same reason. But I hate waiting to the last minute. I'm also directly to the OR course so l'll be training at Ft Bliss for 4 monhs following BOLC starting in Dec 2011. I received an email from the major stating my duty station will be Ft Belvoir. As of now my identifier is 66H. I can't wait to receive my official orders!!!
Oh so we're doing the same program, thats awesome! How long have you been a nurse and do you have any previous military experience? I have no military experience so it should be real interesting haha. I'm glad that I may actually sort of know someone before I go. It's crazy how fast everything came up... first I was put on the OML (TWICE) now all of a sudden I have to think about buying uniforms and looking for a place to live...

I've been a nurse for almost 4 years. I have no military experience, so I'm looking forward to the unexpected:D. I was placed on the OML so I didn't anticipate being processed anytime soon, so excited!! Happy to have touched base with you prior to arriving to BOLC. Very nice to meet you!!

Hey everyone, I figured since there is a thread for the July BOLC I thought I should start one for those attending the August BOLC. I was originally on the OML but was given the option of going active and attending the OR track. I happily accepted the opportunity!!! I received confirmation that I would be attending the Aug BOLC course then heading straight to WBAMC for the 4 month OR training course. My final duty station is still in the works... I just know it will either be Walter Reed or WBAMC (my fingers are crossed for Walter Reed).
Looking forward to meeting everyone and starting my Army Career as a nurse!!
