Username2008, I hope I am not coming off as being obnoxious but under no circumstance can you or would you be able to SWAP jobs with someone. It is a JOB (not nursing school clinical) , and you were specifically hired for that job because they felt YOU and not some allnurses.com member could fulfill that position.

Please do not embark yourself in such a mission. Proposing a switch to your manager would not look good on your part either.

Its unfortunate you missed the offer you wanted, but its not over. You can apply to other hospitals now or just wait until you have about 6 months experience in your unit to do so. That will give you a better chance to get into another ER.

Good luck with things, and hang in there Good Sam is not that bad!

Another thing to add is when you leave a position (there is no option to swap) there has to be a posting for everybody in the hospital to have an opportunity to apply for...of course this is for hospitals that are protected by unions....But if you would want to swap (not a very good choice of word either) with someone, wouldn't it be better to send an email (where people in your hospital can read) to people in that department to see if someonoe is wanting to switch?.....Just a thought

As others have stated here, there is no way for you to swap facilities at this time. You were hired for that position and you accepted it, and will have to fulfill your contract there. There is no way to make a move at this time that will not affect you for a very long time. They are expecting you to start in just two weeks.

You resigned from another position that you had, that is something that you are going to need to deal with. But do not expect HR at any of these facilities to make a change for you at this time.

Just get it done or if you wish to back out, then you are going to have to look for another new grad program and they are quite hard to find at this time of year. And wishing to change at this late notice will make it so that the program will not accept you in any other facility as well.

This is something that you should have thought very seriously about before and I am sure that there are others that would gladly take your position if you chose to walk from it.

NO unsolicited advice, please, especially if you're not even an RN to begin with. i'm looking for a quick solution, not a lecture, not a putdown, not what i should have done, not what i should not do, etc. a hospital is also a business, and in business situations, anything goes, and if there's a will, there's a way. if nurses can swap work schedules, they certainly should be able to swap jobs. i know there's plenty of new nurses who would die for a rare day shift. i'm serious and willing to trade, and by the way, if you're not from this area, please don't respond. thank you.

are you for real? Even if someone posted a "yes I am willing to switch with you", HR and your managers would think that you (and the other person) were crazy! Just out of curiosity, what makes you so desperate to get out of this job? Your lucky to have it because as stated before, the new grad positons are getting few and far between, especially the coveted day positons. You should stick it out.

I'm not an RN (ADN, BSN, MSN), but I do work in a hospital, the place of business as you state....Which is true....and how a place of business handles things is in a professional manner...Job changing with someone on a different unit isn't as easy as you think....I wanted to do something as simple as reducing my hours at work, and I had to go through HR, My Direct Supervisor, AND my floor director...AND IT HAD TO BE APPROVED...I didin't even leave my floor.....maybe in a SNF you can "swap"...but usually in a hospital they do things differently...as I stated before you can't just go through job switching w/o consulting Human Resources....and as I stated before, you leave a position, it must be posted for others "in house" to have the opportunity to apply for....Especially where "senority" is involved....I'm not putting down new grads, but do you believe that new grads have the senority to be able to override HR and just switch jobs w/o consulting with them and also Floor Supervisors?...Let's not pull a Jerry Springer here...don't get upset with anybody here, you asked a question and you've received some helpful advise....If you post a question, then you're sure to get an answer whether you like it or not....I wish you the best of luck and hope you work in the floor you want...Good Luck

oh come on im pretty sure its a piece of cake.

you just find someone at a diff hosp who wants to swap...and the details take care of themselves. i mean its a business, afterall. doesnt the same sort of thing happen in the fast food biz? you know, like a graveyard shifter working the 24-hr drive thru deal at taco bell needs the morning shift at mcdonalds. find a mcdonalds worker who wants to swap and its a guaranteed done deal.

A quick solution, just like you want a more kickback unit? (See OP's other posts) Did you somehow surmise that you would have to do more work on dayshift and change your mind?

Your methodology is bloody ridiculous. :rolleyes: Also, when you post on a public forum, you'll get many responses. There is no guarantee you'll like them.
