ASU Summer 2010 Program Applicants

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hello, everyone!

I submitted my application for the accelerated Summer 2010 program at ASU awhile ago, but I just realized that the February 1st deadline was coming up and wanted to see if anyone else here on allnurses.com applied or is applying. I'm so nervous, I've already applied once and didn't make it--I really, really, really, REALLY hope I can get in this time. :uhoh3:

I'm already starting to get impatient waiting for April!!! My whole life is on hold until then! I hate that I can't apply to any other schools because I'm stuck waiting for ASU and I don't want to pay a bunch of application fees if I make it into ASU regardless. :( Don't get me wrong, though, I really want to get into ASU's program. I just want to get into nursing, really. It's just a little annoying that we will find out about getting into the program so late in the year :banghead:.

Regardless, GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! :heartbeat

What scores are you all applying with?

Thanks so much you two! you Rock!!! I probley wont read it all seeing how late it is, but Id like to skim too so I really appreciate it!!!! :)

lol! I guess Eddie posted it the same time I did! haha

But yeah, for the reading, I'm just skimming for tonight. I wish we had a little more direction with everything before starting, but I guess that will all be changed tomorrow!

Btw, the program on my laptop finally works!! I re-installed it a fourth time and it just decided to work. I'm not really sure why it didn't work beforehand :uhoh3:. Ah, well, whatev. I didn't know that the iPad can only run apps! That seems really counter-intuitive... isn't the iPad supposed to be similar to a tablet PC? If it can only run apps, it sounds like it's just an oversized iPod Touch! haha Oh, Apple.

haha yup I beat ya! ;)

And yeah, in a sense it really is an over-sized iPod, but it is a lot more powerful. I guess Apple's trying to corner the market on these "devices" and hopes that by forcing apps to be used that they can essentially control the market and not lose it to the Windows machines that are sure to follow. I don't think its going to work. I am just a sucker for new tech so yeah.... I actually hate Macs! HAHA :)

typo sorry

hi azapplicant,

i waited about 1 and 1/2 years. it worked out because i was only going part time taking the remaining coreq classes as well as classes for asu transfer through the alliance program. i'm definitely looking forward to getting each semester done and moving on.

going to be 38 this years..so i'm figuring...right before i turn 40..lol..i'll receive the adn, then by 41..bsn..then by 45..who knows...np, pa, ....

that's awesome to hear! congrats and good luck with everything!! be sure to tell us all about your "pre-program" jitters hehe :)

very welcome! i have to say, most of the emotions everyone has been stating..are the same ones i've been going through. i've actually gone out and already purchased my scrubs..lol. i have a box labeled "nursing school" that contains items i have purchased so far and just keep adding to it...lol. shoes, scrubs, pens, paper, highlighters, paper, etc.

haha have you tried on the whole outfit hehe?

i feel your pain crystal! lol oh asu :clown: thank goodness for our lil online family hehe. thanks you two !!

haha i l:redpinkheve how it is almost 11:00 and we are all still on here haha see you guys tomorrow!:D

If anyone is still up I have a question about 394/312. Under text book readings it also says about completing a couple lessons and bringing the post tests to class? I was wondering if this was through the Nursing Skills Online, but in the packet it says about waiting for the username and password from the instructor. I'm so lost haha.

Anyone have any idea what this "Self-directed learning article" is about that we need for 320 tomorrow?? I'm lost.

Anyone have any idea what this "Self-directed learning article" is about that we need for 320 tomorrow?? I'm lost.

Im thinking we just need to google self directed learning and print out an article about it. Nothing major, just to discuss what it means I think.....I'm not sure each group will have to do that, that is just directions from our FOR, so the other groups might be doing something else with their FOR? Not positive though.....

Anyone else feel a little overwhelmed? :uhoh3:

I think the article we need is just any article that we feel defines what self-directed learning means. I think every group has to do it; we're all together until lunch tomorrow.

I'm a little peeved at the moment, though. If you look under 320, you can locate your clinical site.... All three of mine are in Chandler. CHANDLER. I live in AVONDALE. (107th Avenue and Camelback). I'm going to have to wake up around like 4:15am in order to get there in time if we have to be there at 6am. D2's sites are ALL in the West Valley: Sun City/Glendale. And all of D6's sites are at least in Central Phoenix!! Why couldn't I have been placed there?! Why CHANDLER?! Ugh, I'm going to whine and pout and say this totally isn't fair. :( I thought they were supposed to put us somewhere near where we live? We accept driving to ASU as a distance we simply have to deal with, but where our clinicals are is totally up to THEM and we're at the mercy of where THEY put us. The least they could do is put me within 30 miles of my clinical site, that's all I'm asking; especially when the sites for the D2's are literally 10 miles away from me. What happened to anyone caring about GAS PRICES and POLLUTION?! And ASU calls itself a "green" university! Arghhhh.... :crying2:

I am seriously hoping that I'm mysteriously put into a different LC and not D4. This doesn't seem right at all.

Yep, my clinicals are as far from my home as they can get them. I live in North Phoenix and mine are in Tempe and Chandler....I thought they said they would assign us near our homes at the orientation. Was I hearing things or just overwhelmed with my my concerns for financial aid?:grn:

Yeah I've been looking and so far the smallest one I've seen is 16 pages. Are we to print the whole thing? Or do you think they are wanting the page with the abstract? Ahh, guess I'll just keep searching for something small. Are you going through ASU Library online or anything? Google failed me so I'm using MCC's online database.

Anyone else feel a little overwhelmed? :uhoh3:

A little, but I think that is to be expected. It seems like they have to have us just jump right in and its already a little more condensed than normal. It'll be fine though. Just gotta get in to the swing of things. We barely made it through day one! :)

Hmm... I wonder if maybe they just have a lot of people from the west valley?? I know they did say they switch them up every semester so maybe this was just your rotation to be far away??? I dunno. I have one site in Tempe, one in Chandler and another on North 24th St. That last one seemed out of place. I know one of the other groups (D4 maybe) has all of theirs closer to me. So who knows. I just think they had to rotate things around. I'll tell you what if I get rotated in to one in the far west valley I will blow a gasket. Hahha thats like 2hr + drive w/o traffic. I bet when we start doing hospital rotations it will be easier to get closer to where we live. Crossing my fingers for Mercy Gilbert! :)

So, just read about the "article" on the Learning Module and I think I was WAY over thinking on this. Looks like you just need something that talks about what it is. I was looking for like a journal article or something haha

Does seem like a lot of stuff tho on the 320 blackboard....
