ASU Post-Baccalaureate BSN 2017 - Welcome

Published

Hey everyone,

I am a current post-bacc student at ASU. I wanted to start a thread for all of you who are applying for the 2017 class. Last year we had amazing support from the 2015 class, so we wanted to carry on that tradition and provide you all with the same support system. Feel free to use this thread to ask questions and seek advice. Many of my classmates will be on here answering your questions as well!

Good luck to you all!

What?! Seriously?! Why? There are only 48 applicants! For 40-48 spots! Either we all got in or 8 of us didn't. This wait is awful!

Nothing like some fresh torture to freak us all out. There's so much to do to prepare, and I worry that the time is now too short!

So I looked at my stuff from last year, we found out 11/4. And other than sending our intent to enroll form after our acceptance, we didn't hear from them again until 11/18 with the stuff we needed to do before school started. We had to sign something and send in our MMR to ASU by 11/30. Then we had to order a drug screen and background check by 12/4. Everything else was due in January, and nothing was super time consuming. I think the most time consuming thing was driving to get the drug test and then driving to get my doctor to fill out the form saying that I was capable of performing the duties of a nurse.

There isn't much you can do before the Junior 1 meeting in early December either. I think most of our time in November and December was spent relaxing and spending time with friends and family. The previous class also made a facebook page for all the accepted applicants so that we could ask questions, and they held some informal meetings for us. We are hoping to do the same for you guys as well as having a couple meetings to discuss the program and nursing in general in December and January.

I know the wait is brutal, but you will find out soon! And we will work to get you guys all set up for the program!

Hey guys, I don't think we have anything to worry about. I got a confirmation from my advisor that there are 48 seats and we all know that there were 48 applicants so for whatever reason they're taking a little longer for letters but I think we'll be getting them soon.

Thats very kind of you to provide all of this information to the future class of 2017. Thank you for all of your help Maycation!

This is what I received today from my advisor.

"Our anticipated timeline is still within early November, so hopefully no later than early next week."

This wait is insane! lol

Aaaarrrgghhhh these people are killing me! Lol

I just don't understand, if there's 48 spots (confirmed) and 48 applicants (also confirmed) what's the hold up?! This is excruciating.

Add in the fact that like 3 weeks ago they confirmed our scores and grades and everything else had to be verified through castle branch by the application deadline ? So yeah...?

Well I think they do all the letters for both the post bac and the regular at the same time so I don't think it's just our program they are having to sift through.

True that's a very good point! Hopefully they tell us soon!

Speaking of castle branch, have you guys uploaded a copy of your flu shot? I somewhat remember reading to not worry about that until we actually begin but I could be wrong.
