As another semester at Chamberlain comes to a close ...

Published

I just finished NR446, Collaborative Healthcare, and NR448, Information Systems for Healthcare. Initially I was nervous about taking two classes at the same time; combined with work and my paramedic stuff, plus trying to NOT neglect my husband, I didn't want to overload myself. Turns out I shouldn't have been worried at all! Collaborative Healthcare was pretty light, as far as assignment content; while there were usually weekly writing assignments, they weren't bad at all. Info Systems had a large paper due in Week 7 that was worth 40% of my grade, but I got a big ol' A on it. :D So I ended up with two A's for this session. The 4.0 lives on! YAY!!!

Next semester is NR449, Evidence-Based Practice. And then after that ... NR450, Capstone! OMG, there is a light at the end of the tunnel!! Funny -- the required book for the capstone course is one that I've already read -- Code Green: Money-Driven Hospitals and the Dismantling of Nursing, by Dana Beth Weinstein. Sadly I had just sold it to cash4books.net, mailed it out like the DAY BEFORE I found out I needed it, so I had to buy it again!! LOL. Too funny! I guess I'll keep it this time. :D

How is everyone else doing?? What are you guys taking next?

Awesome Lunah! :):yeah:

Hello,

I am due to start the RN-BSN online program at Chamberlain in April. Only just learned about this program through allnurses.com :) Almost ended up at Kaplan University, but figured that this program would cost about the same and I would be able to reap the benefits sooner.

I was wondering if any of you who either are currently taking or are in the Capstone course could enlighten me with what the course actually entails.

Thanks in advance. Especially to those of you who have made me confident in my choice of online learning venue.

Hey all you successful Chamberlain peoples : )!! Sounds like you are doing great. I am looking at this program and have a question. I saw somewhere here on Allnurses, they do not take credits older than 10 years. I am an "old" diploma grad - more than 10 years for sure. Is this true? It looked like a great program to me.

Thanks

They accepted some of my credits from 1990-1991, and those suckers were 18+ years old at the time I applied. You should contact an admissions advisor and see what they have to say -- let me know if you'd like my person's contact info.

Thanks for the info ! I filled out the "call me" form so expect they will be ringing my phone bright and early in the AM. Will let you know what happens.

My biggest obstacle is TOTAL FEAR of any and all things Math. But, "statisics for decision making" makes it sound less intimidating. How did it go for you?

I did statistics back in 1991, but I've known a few people who did Chamberlain's stats and survived quite nicely. :)

: ) THAT is encouraging... Many people I work with are taking it at the local CC 2 -3 times to pass it.

I'm in Stats and History. Have had a 4.0 thus far and hope to hang onto it til the end. Next session I'm being brave and taking 3 classes. We'll see how it goes. They are Economics, collab health and another nursing class. Then on to the last two classes to finish up in August. Hope I can keep my GPA up so I can pursue am MPH degree. Glad to see all are doing so well. Chamberlain has been great. Christy don't worry a out the Cultural Diversity paper it won't be bad. I was worried about it too.

Specializes in Psych, Chem Dependency, Occ. Health.

I am having a hard time in economics this time. I even dropped the capstone and will take it in April now. I just can't seem to understand it. I am pretty sure my 4.0 will be blown on this class. I got an 85 on the first paper and my instructor has been zero help, zero, nada, zilch. I have taken 8 classes at Chamberlain and all of my instructors have been great except this one. :crying2: I'm terrified of the midterm which I have to take next week. I have been studying my butt off but when you don't really understand what you are studying it makes it really hard.

I have yet to start with Chamberlain, but I was under the impression that if there was any difficulty with any of the instructors that we could contact an advisor so they could get on top of it. I was told that they are very selective of the instructors that they choose to teach their Gen. Ed. courses for those in the nursing program, and have been known to fire them due to unsatisfactory reviews from nursing students.

Is there no one that you can address your concerns to?

I ended up dropping Cultural Diversity and taking this session off. My poor brain really needed a break. The last few weeks has been crazy at work. I work on a Navajo Reservation and we have finally reached the tail end of respiratory season. Now my projected graduation will be the end of December. Oh well.

I'm on to graduate school for my MSN-Family psych NP then plan on going for the DNP and ultimately I'd like to go law school, my SO is an attorney and is supportive. I have always wanted to go. So we shall see what the future brings.

Hello,

I was just wondering if you've already looked into MSN programs. Did you have any particular schools in mind? I was looking into Drexel University's online program and was wondering if that was one of your school choices. I am hoping that they take Chamberlain graduates. I'm so excited to begin my Chamberlain experience but am just a little concerned on how difficult it will be to get into a grad program after.
