So I got an email stating that the TIG for promotion was reduced to 24 months for 1LT to Captain. Anyone know what the time in service requirement for 1LT to Captain is for the Army Reserves?

Dont feel bad, when I answered yesterday I had to go back and edit my response because I did not either.

Looks like Irene will miss the area. Still at Ft. Sam for awhile longer

I'm happy to receive the answers! I have a question regarding working at one of the Army's Level 1 trauma centers. How as a Reservist could I make that happen? I am CCRN, CEN, TNCC and have 2 years Surgical/ Trauma ICU experience at the areas only Level 1 trauma center. Advice? What hospitals would afford the best experience to step up my experience and skill set?

To make it happen in the reserves you will need to do what is called IMA. In the IMA program you are assigned to medical center and that is where you do your 2 weeks active duty and drill with a local unit. If the medical center is in your area you can do your drills there or if they are not in a communiting distance you can combine your drills with your 2 weeks active duty. If you are assigned to a reserve unit in your area that is not a brick & motar hospital it will be diffcult to work at one since you will be required to drill with your unit.

I had a little over 6 years med-surg nursing and the USAR brought me in as 1LT. How long possibly to CPT? Set for OBLC in Feb 2012.

How much constructive credit did they give you? Since the board meets around the first of the year you will not be going to the FY 12 CPT board. Which means you are looking at the FY 13 or 14 board depending on your date of rank. This means you should pin on CPT in either the spring of 2013 or 2014.

Hello jeckrn: Please I do have a question.

I'm prior service with 6 years and 7 months as an enlisted army soldier (Active Duty). I also completed an additional 12 months in the Army Reserves.

I recently commissioned as a 1LT with 36 months of constructive credit.

Question 1: For O-2E purposes, will I be receiving only 6 years, or 6 years and 7 months, or 7 years and 7 months? The 7 years and 7 months is 12 months in the Reserves added to the Active duty time. I understand that the "E" designation applies to 4 years of Active Duty.

Question 2: If I receive 6 years and 7 months for O-2E purposes, will this time automatically start counting from the time I get to BOLC on July 14th, 2016? As in, by December 15th, 2016, would this then be 7 years for me for O-2E purposes?

Thank you.

You should be at 7 years and 7 months for pay. I am not sure how they are counting your time now since it sounds like you already have commissioned. If you have it should have started from the date of your commissioning.

If you're active duty, get someone to help you look at your SURF. It will have your date of rank and your pay date. Both of these will be back dated based on whatever deal you cut. 24 months from your date of rank for 1LT is when you go from O2E to O3E. The same is true for your pay date. It will be back dated to sometime ~2008-2009; work forward to figure out when you hit 8 years of time in service.

I am not sure what a SURF is — not an Army thing. But we do have an Officer Record Brief (ORB) that shows dates of rank, initial entry date, etc. The ORB is linked from the AKO home page.
