You need to talk to a healthcare recruiter, there is usually only one per major city. You can google Army healthcare recruiter to locate the one that is closest to you and then contact them. You do not need to take the ASVAB to join as a nurse corps officer. That is for enlisted only, you are likely talking to a regular enlisted recruiter.

Is ASVAB needed to be a Nurse Reserve? I'm an RN with BSN. May I know how long is the minimum contract? Thank you!
No. No nurse in any branch takes the ASVAB whether they be guard, reserve, or active.
The minimum contract is always 8 years; people actively drill different portions of that time. You might actively drill for 6 years and be on a non-drilling call-up list called the inactive ready reserve (IRR) for the other 2 years.

Thank you so much! I heard from a Youtuber who is still in the service that his contract is only 2 years. Probably that was a few years ago..Probably this year it's 8 years. Thanks a lot!

Sign on bonuses are only available for certain specialties: ICU, OR, etc. Like everyone has mentioned, talk to a healthcare recruiter for your area. Good luck!

Hi,
I currently an BSN-RN and just went to the local army recruiters office. The recruiter is telling me to take the asvab test first and we'll go from there. I thought I can join the army as an officer and work as an RN. Any insights? thanks!
