Army Direct Commission FY12

Just wondering if anyone else is preparing their packet for the upcoming selection board?

Thanks ArmyRN789! I am on pins and needles until I find out! Hopefully, we all will hear something soon.

I just got another update from my recruiter. Apparently 66H RA applicants aren't being boarded yet. Not sure why the delay, but it will push things back a bit. Just wanted to let you guys know.

Does that (RA) mean the reserves??

Regular Army (active). Not sure about Reserves.

Specializes in Emergency Room/1LT Army 66HM5.

RA=Regular Army RC=Reserves

Good luck to all of you. Was where you guys are last year. I was in BOLC dying to hear the news of whether my packet was even being considered. Was in the field during the week, so I was unable to talk to my recruiter and it drove me crazy. Just sit back, try to relax, and hope for the best. None of us heard any news until after Thanksgiving. And let me tell you, it was brutal!!! Again, good luck everyone...hope to see you in uniform real soon!!!

Specializes in Critical Care.

Hello everyone! I've been lurking this board for a while, and have finally decided to join in the discussion. :)

I've been a nurse with the Dept of Veteran's Affairs since 2006. I worked one year on a med-surg floor and in 2007 transferred to SICU, where I've worked ever since. I commissioned into the Army Reserves in 2008, where I currently am a CPT and serve as Training OIC for my unit.

I attended the Army's active duty Critical Care Nursing Course (CCNC) at Walter Reed this past year, where I graduated as Distinguished Honor Graduate in August. Being at the CCNC inspired me to want to be full-time active duty. Thus, I submitted a packet to the board. I was VERY surprised with just how much paperwork goes into the process of being released from the Reserves for Active Duty, on top of the already mounds of paperwork for the packet! Hopefully all of the time spent will pay off! :)

Best of luck to everyone and hopefully we'll all be serving together soon! HOOAH!

THE BOARD RESULTS ARE IN!

I just got a call from my recruiter and the board results are out. My status is unknown as I'm still pending approval of my age waiver. That's the good news. The bad news is that there are only FIFTEEN slots available this year! For the whole country!! That's crazy!! I'm hoping I hear something next week for sure. At least I wasn't rejected!

You should call your recruiter to see if they have been notified. Did you have any waivers? Even though there are only fifteen slots to fill I think you have a very good chance since critical care is one of the only shortages they have right now. Good luck and let us know as soon as you hear your results!

Congrats, buddy! 1 down, 14 to go ;).

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

15? Wow ... that's even tighter than last year. Congrats, ArmyMarathonRunnerRN!! Awesome news, I'm sure you are excited. Were you granted an 8A identifier at the end of your course?

Lunah, any idea what it means that I don't have results pending waivers? If they were going to reject me, wouldn't they have done it prior to having my waivers reviewed? I have an age waiver so it's pretty standard.

Did anyone else get results??
