Where in Arlington will the new stadium be located as I am househunting and DO NOT want to live in the path of that place and what it will bring. I went on the website and found no info I could use. Thanx.
What's wrong with South Arlington and Southeast Arlington? I'm simply curious.
I am speaking specifically of the areas around Cooper and Matlock. I20 around those areas has become a mega shopping jungle nightmare. SuperTarget, SuperWalMart, huge Home Depot, Lowes, Parks Mall and now Highlands shopping area (which I do like BTW) and a monstrous restaurant row. Traffic is horrendous and if you depend on Cooper and Matlock to get to your house, I swear it is a total mess after 4 pm. It would take my Dh almost 30 minutes to get home (and this was a number of years ago) after exiting I20.
The city did not plan the growth very well and there has been a TON of new apartments. Sad to say, but with all of the apartments comes overcrowding in schools and a decrease in test scores. There are schools who now use "temporary" classrooms on a permanent basis.
West of Cooper there are some nice housing areas and nice schools. But East of Cooper and east through Matlock and Collins = avoid it if you can.
I was simply curious, because the neighborhoods in Southeast Arlington along New York Avenue looked nice and well-maintained to me. Of course, I'm an outsider to the neighborhood.West of Cooper there are some nice housing areas and nice schools. But East of Cooper and east through Matlock and Collins = avoid it if you can.
Mansfield schools aren't really packed. In fact, they now have 4 high schools. MISD is will have a 5th built in the next few years, and land is already purchased for an additional high school. They are prepared for the growth out here.
Well, there are some pretty intense debates about the boundary lines for the new high schools for sure. I just know a lot of people who moved to Mansfield because of the supposedly good quality schools and were shocked at the temporary classrooms and by the huge schools. I don't want my daughter going to a school where there are EIGHT kindergarten classes.

I don't know specifically about that neighborhood. I know there are some that are east of 360 and south of 20 that are supposedly ok. There *are* pocket areas that are really nice throughout the town. It truly is important to live there for awhile to get the lay of the land.
I appreciate all of the input but we will be having a baby and simply cannot afford to rent and feel out all of the neighborhoods and then hunt endlessly for a home. We will be coming to look at homes shortly and want to narrow it down to 1 or 2 zip codes. We have a very good idea but I wanted as much input as possible. We are not snobs or super picky we just want decent schools in a decent area. We still believe that 90% of a childs success comes from home. We're kinda square that way

You aren't square, but when the baby gets old enough school, he or she will spend almost 90% of the time away from you........so it behooves you to pick well !
Hi Heloise, I need ur help one more time, I have sent you a private email pls check and respond if you can. Enjoy mental health. I hear It's already boring. Well I will get to find out in summer 2. Good luck this semester. :-)
Look in areas with the following zip codes: 76017, 76001, 76012, 76013, 76016, 76018, and 76002. These areas are pretty much away from all of the traffic over there. Avoid 76010, 76011, and 76014 because of the stadium and crime. There are a few other areas in North Arlington, but I'm not very familiar with them. The ones I suggested are in South Arlington and nice residential areas in Central Arlington. Good luck with your search.

I understand that. (I actually prefer smaller school disticts and country towns with only one high school.)
I know MISD is opening up at least one new elementary school this next school year across the highway (360 and New York area) from another elementary school.
MISD boundaries are a HUGE debate.
