Questions we seem to be encountering more and more often have to do with the effects of a criminal history on nursing licensure:
Is it possible to become licensed as a nurse if you have a criminal history?
Is it possible to become licensed as a nurse if you have a MIP, DUI, or other related charges?
What happens if you are charged or convicted of a crime after licensure?
Can I go to nursing school and/or be licensed if my record has been sealed or expunged?
Will I be able to go to nursing school with a criminal record?
What can happen if I receive a MIP/DUI/DWI or other charge while still in school?
These are questions that the members of allnurses.com cannot answer. The only reliable source of information is your State Board of Nursing.
Each case is decided on as an individual so very hard to predict outcome
hi friends. long story short, when i was filling out the application on my nursing licence i wasnt sure if i was convicted of a crime,so i put i wasnt. It came back that i had a harrassment charge on it.The nursing board made it a public record, and that public record is preventing me from getting a job.Not the harrassment charge, because i get hired with the harrassment charge, and when my public record comes up i get fired.
[1]Can i remove this public record on my licence ?
[2]when i renew my licence in 2011, will the public record be gone,or does that stay with you for life ?
[3]what kind of lawyer do i need and if you know one
im in new jersey
any help will be great
really need help with this, does anyone have any info on it

We cannot give any legal advice here (per the site's TOS). What does the BON say about your situation? Have you talked to them about it?

get a lawyer. Old records can be expunged. It's worth the effort and money to do so. good luck

Only your BON can adequately answer your question. There's no way we can advise you about this. Good luck.
