Are there really hospitals that pay your tution in exchange for working there?

Title says it :lol2:

I have always heard there are hospitals that do this and I was curious if there are really places that do this in exchange for a couple years of service. I don't the ones that reimburse you after school but while in school. I am just curious

TIA:yeah:

The VA sounds great & they are building a big hospital here too. I wonder how I would get started?

That sounds wonderful!! I love pittsburgh but do plan on heading somewhere south when I finish out my contract with UPMC. My dad was really pushing for me to sign on with a VA hospital to see if they would pay my education in exchange for work, but I was to quick to sign on with UPMC. I really wish I would have looked more into the VA when I started researching SON. I Will def. be looking for a good VA hospital when I am finished though. Would you know if they buy out contracts I have heard some hospitals will do that?

I'm not sure if they buy them out, but we do contract nurses from various travel agencies. 9 out of 10 of them end up staying with us permanently.

A hospital in my area (Western Massachusetts) offers a loan forgiveness program. They will pay for your schooling as long as you agree to work for them for a set amount of time.

I'm doing that now, but we do have to pay the first $5000 (didn't use to be that way). You have to work for any UPMC (Pittsburgh) hospital when you graduate for 2 years and they forgive your tuition.

the hospital i work at prepays for your tuition and books. No work commitment afterwards. :)

to qualify for tuition reimbursment/prepayment you only have to work 2 days a week.
