Are the positions at Baylor real?

I am currently employed but have wanted to work for Baylor since moving to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area last year in the woman services area. Since I am already employed I have been selective in the position I want and make sure that I have every requirement for the position that is asked for. I have gotten immediate responses from the nurse recruiter once I submit an application and I have been led to believe that there is interest but then after a rolodex of excuses I stop hearing from the recruiter. The last time I applied I was told by the recruiter that the nurse manager was out sick and that's why I had not been called in for an interview. After several emails back and forth and the recruiter reassuring me that she has been forwarding my profile to the manager but she was still out sick the position was taken down and I was sent an automatic message that the postion was filled only for the same position to be reposted again a few weeks later. I can see if I had an interview and then didn't get the job but I can't even seem to land an interview despite having more than 6yrs experience! It makes me think that there is no need for these positions they post. Has anyone else had a smiliar experience?

I'm not sure about the positions for experienced nurses, but I applied for the NICU internship and received an email saying "for business purposes, they have decided to cancel this year's NICU program." Maybe they are overstaffed? I've also heard that Baylor has a high retention rate...

One thing I could tell you about the downtown Fort Worth area hospital is that they probably are overstaffed at this time. I work in the ER at Baylor SW (not as a nurse, I am a student right now.) and we closed our L&D area at this hospital. Most of the nurses went to the downtown hospital on 8th Ave. Could not tell you about any of the other Baylor hospitals in the area however.

Forgot to update, another position opened which I applied for and I finally did get called for an interview which was today! I think it went well so we shall see...

Highly common among several of the Baylor campuses in DFW as well as Medical City. They post phantom job openings and just "fish" to see who takes the bait. Women's services at any of the Baylor sites have high retention rates for the nursing staff.

I recently applied at Baylor for a NICU position in Dallas. I received an email saying that they were going with someone who had qualifications that more closely fit their needs. I have almost a decade of high-acuity NICU experience and was a sought-after preceptor at my last facility. Not to sound haughty, but what kind of qualifications could they possibly be seeking that I don't posess? I didn't even get to speak to anyone. (shrugs) Good luck to you! Hopefully you'll find something soon!

NICU Nurse's posting is scary! If she can't get into Baylor with her experience what does that say for a new grad like me??? :lol2:

I got the same reponse when I first applied, I'm thinking they never even glanced at my resume before they sent that auto response. Well I have to say is persistance is key. 6 was my lucky number it seems. That's the # of times I've applied for positions in my specialty over the course of 12mths. On the 6th try I was finally called in for an interview and as of last week I was offered the position! I've never in my life had to work so hard to get a job, let's hope it's worth it!

Good for you! I love hearing "I got the job" stories. I'm sure it will be worth it. I applied for a bunch of their new grad positions and seemed to be on the "short-list" for one, but I never got a call and finally received the "other people are better than you" letter. Maybe, it was you! LOL!

I work in the Baylor University Medical Center NICU Dallas and I can tell you that we definately recruit for experienced NICU III Rn's 1st as our census has been really low for a while so the internship was cancelled for that reason. We had several nurses leave when the census was low and our shifts were being cancelled. Continue to put in your applications and I would suggest trying to call the nurse manager in the NICU directly to follow up on your application. If you are willing to work weekends only (TDA shifts) especially nights, there are probably openings there. We are designated as a Magnet Hospital and it shows! We are respected and our opinions valued. Our unit works very well together as a team and would love to have you if our census stays up!
