Hi,
I'll soon be completing my ADN from a community college in houston(on F1 visa).
I'm a male . I'm an excellent student (so i'm told) :) .
1. What are my chances of finding a job in houston.
2. should i go on to do my BSN (RN-BSN).
3. What kind of policies do hospitals have for recruiting male nurses? Do they
avoid recruiting them, i mean do they prefer women over men ?
thankx
kunal
I'm not in Houston but live close to the area and I'm assuming that you are from another country by your comments. The U.S. is well beyond the male/female nursing thing and they want nurses period. Thanks for the info "Jetta1", really appreciate it. I thought hosiptals would only recruit males as a last resort. Thanks, i feel much better now. DO u think nurses with BSNs find it easier (to find a job) than those with ADN degrees?
Houston and Texas in general are full of opportunities for nurses so do not worry, jobs are a dime a dozen.
I'm an ADN studying for my BSN and it gets very hard to stay motivated to do so because the hospitals here do not pay more for a nurse with a BSN and very few if any hospitals in Houston are impressed with a BSN.
ADN's do very well here, I'm one of them and I know.
i think that you will find a satisfactory job just about anywhere with an adn but the more that you know the better off you will be...if you want to advance having a bsn will be an asset...
i don't find men easier or more difficult to work with...depends a lot on the person..i have worked with some real lulus of both sexes...some know it alls. some lazy as all get out...thank goodness they are in the minority and they usually are so dissatisfied that they move on quickly
