Are you getting ADN or BSN ?

If I may ask is there a particular reason why you chose that route?

Thanks

My PLAN (emphasis added for sure) is to go for my accelerated BSN ... because I eventually want to go for my MSN and any time I can save to get there would be very beneficial. However, cost for me is a major factor, sadly .. so if I have to I will go with the ADN and BSN online route which I personally don't have a problem with. However, another reason I would like to pursue the BSN is because a majority of the hospitals in the city I wish to work are already expressing preferences for BSNs.

I'm getting my ADN first, basically because my GPA in high school needed to be brought up. I plan on doing RN-BSN after, but I think I might want to work some before going into it, or while I'm in it.

I am working on the ADN, because its a cheaper/faster route to the RN. I will start the BSN when the ADN is finished.

I have a bachelor's degree in Legal Studies and had a total of 7 pre-req's to complete in order to apply for the accelerated BSN program (5 completed). I have struggled with which program to pursue ADN or BSN. I work in a hospital now and after careful consideration and a little research from the nurses I work around I decided to do the BSN. The hospital I work for has a college and they are phasing out their ADN program and the local community college is also going to start offering BSN degrees. It seems to be a push for new nurses to hold a higher degree (I live in Florida)

I was going to get my ASN and eventually go back and get my BSN but changed my mind. I ended up finishing my pre reqs for BSn I ended up finishing my pre reqs for my BSN while I was waiting to see if I got accepted in to the asn program. After not getting accepted I decided to transfer to a csu. I just found out I will be starting nursing school next semester. I want to be a fnp so instead to breaking it up to get my bsn I might as well get it done now. I'm still young, have one child and would like to have another when I'm done, so I'm just getting all the schooling I can out of the way.

I am going thru the ABSN route because I feel that it'll open some doors for me and because the ADN programs in CA have a fierce admission process. After racking up some bedside nursing for a few years, I intend to pursue my advanced nursing degree after :D.

I'm hoping I get into a BSN program, but I won't complain if I end up in an ADN program..at this point, I just want to get started somewhere! I have a previous degree in another unrelated field, which is why the BSN is more appealing to me. It'd take the same amount of time for me to get my BSN as it would my ADN, and I eventually would like to go on to grad school as well. Otherwise, if I were fresh out of high school or didn't have any college credits I'd go ADN first and then do the BSN bridge thing, just cause I'd be able to start working as an RN sooner that way.

I'm going for my ADN. Not much of a pay difference and as others have pointed out, you can work & go to school. I'm ready to make :twocents: nowwwwww.

Good luck with your decision!! :D

I'm going into an Accelerated BSN (15 months) program, because I received my B.A. in another field. It made more sense to go that route instead of an ADN route, simply because I plan to progress further to a Nurse Practitioner, so I won't be losing ground on that track.

I'm going for my ADN first and once I have an established job I hope to continue to me BSN and then my MSN. I am married and have 2 small children. Financially I can't afford not to work for more that 2 years. Not like I can really afford that either but I figure I can't afford to sit back and do nothing!

i'm getting ADN. getting married and work for a year. :) :) Then go for BSN.

good luck and best wishes everyone
