ARC/SCC ADN FALL 2019

Published

Hi Everyone!!! I didn't see a thread for Fall 2019, so I figured I'd get the ball rolling. This is my first time applying to both SCC and ARC. I turned in my paper packets on 2/11 and 2/13. SCC updated my status to received this morning. I plan to also apply at Delta, but would really prefer acceptance at ARC or SCC.

Has anyone found information comparing sac city and arcs program? I was accepted to both and want to make sure I fully educate myself on both programs before making a decision. I am still waiting to hear back for my #1 school, but wat to be prepared in the chance I am denied. Let me know if you know of any good articles or even topics on here!

thanks in advance!

Share how you got into both lol , but i always heard saccity to be very good and they expect more from their students, to be well prepared, so it will be a bit tougher program, but still good because you will feel more confidents as a nurse

I was shocked I even got in sac city, let alone arc. I am very thankful!!! That is good to hear. I definitely want to be challenged. I feel overwhelmed because this is a difficult decision!!!

They are both really great schools! Their NCLEX pass rates are almost the exact same the past few years. Which one is closer for you? Maybe that will help make your decision.

Looking at NCLEX pass rates, schedule and distance are good ways to decide.

I go to SCC and haven’t heard much about ARCs program in comparison.

Staff at one of the hospital sites told me they prefer to hire students that didn’t go to Sierra because they do clinicals in Roseville where the patient population isn’t as diverse. Students in Sacramento area hospitals are exposed to more and they felt they were better prepared.

Yet lots of Sierra graduates get hired at Sutter Roseville right after graduating. That’s what the dean said. And my relative got a job at Sutter right away. Sierra ranks #3 in whole California.

I think overall every local school has a good reputation and will get you a job as long as you pass NCLEX. That’s just the opinion of some of the staff at a downtown sac hospital.

I got accepted at both ARC and Sierra but I'm choosing Sierra! So happy to see that this will help some of you out that are on the waitlist. Congrats to everyone that got in!!

I breakdown every time I get rejected. So unfair. I’m a good student, I qualify more than people that got accepted. I have all As and scored high on the TEAS :*( I just can’t stop crying at this stupid random system. It’s all a game. My career is not up to me but up to chance.

@Lady2020 I feel you!!!! I have straight A's and scored a 96.7 on the Teas, have my CNA license, a previous bachelor's, ..yada yada yada. I applied to Sierra, SCC and ARC and Yuba. I didnt get selected for any lottery! It's very frustrating. I busted my but to get those marks while being a mom to 4 kids. I would strongly suggest that you apply to Yuba college. They use a merit based acceptance system...the top 30 scores get in. We had orientation a few weeks ago and I was very impressed with the facility, instructors and caliber of students. You have worked too hard to leave the next step of your dreams in the hands of a lottery!

Don’t feel bad. Many students try multiple years before they get in and many of them have good grades. All the schools in California are super impacted. If you don’t mind relocating you will have more options and you can apply to chamberlain in Sac if you don’t mind a private school.

So hard, I feel you guys. So there’s only an email if you get accepted? I didn’t get anything.
