Hi!
I just found out that I was accepted for Spring 2012 semester. It is an awesome program, APU is amazing.
As far as leadership/volunteer experience goes I am not sure. I personally did not have any in college! It was impossible because I have 2 little ones at home and had a hectic course load as well. In high school though, I was Senior Class President & was involved with ASB all 4 years, but i'm not sure if they took that in to consideration seeing as it was almost 3 years ago.
I have a 3.4 GPA, and honestly I was surprised I got in because of how competitive it is. So APPLY and keep applying, you never know until you try :)
Oh wow! Thanks for getting back to me! Did you have all the stuff done? Like the only thing I don't have is two semesters of foreign language.
Did you have the nursing reference and stuff? I'm applyig for summer entrance but I can't get a nursing reference. I can ask my cousin but I know that's family. I am desperate though, its new and its not going to be new soon. Your overall is pretty good. I wonder, do they take the overall for the courses lists or what your overall is regardless if the courses transfer?
Thanks for replying! And Congrats!
Thanks :)
The nursing reference needs to be from someone who knows and can comment on your academic performance, ex: professor or teacher.
And yes, you need to have all your prereqs completed because there wont be room to take them during the program, they said no exceptions there.
They look at your science/prereq GPA as the major determining GPA, but i'm sure they take in to account your overall in comparison. Also, if the courses arent transferrable, i doubt they will count them or consider them.
Oh geez, so I can't even apply because I don't have foreign language done? I took a quarters worth of Spanish at cal poly?
Oh so it can be a professor? Hmm my overall is not good, like a 3.15 or lower depending on what types of classes they count as transfering. Ok well... I guess I can apply anyway. And see what they say. They said that they had 40 qualified applicants for spring and only 20 are accepted.
Hi, I just saw saw this and I'm wondering if anyone out there that is attending APU in the high desert could share some info? I'm thinking about applying there. I know its fairly new and I would love some feedback on the facility, professors, clinical sites.....etc. I know theres a lot of pre-reqs, seems like more then most. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hey there! I was looking to APU's high desert program for summer 2012. I know applications are due Feb 15. I know they have a lot of requirements and they only take in 20 students per application period (3 application cycles per year). I would like to apply but unfortunately I don't think I am competitive enough. The lady I talk to said 40 people qualified for spring and 20 people got in. So I guess is a 50/50 shot. I am thinking of applying just to try my luck.
So my question is...does anyone know about this program or got accepted? Is it good? What were your stats entering? Does the leadership and volunteer experience really worth much? Any and all answers to these questions will be extremely helpful!
Thanks!
