  1. Thanks :) The nursing reference needs to be from someone who knows and can comment on your academic performance, ex: professor or teacher. And yes, you need to have all your prereqs completed because there wont be room to take them during the program, they said no exceptions there. They look at your science/prereq GPA as the major determining GPA, but i'm sure they take in to account your overall in comparison. Also, if the courses arent transferrable, i doubt they will count them or consider them.
  2. Hi! I just found out that I was accepted for Spring 2012 semester. It is an awesome program, APU is amazing. As far as leadership/volunteer experience goes I am not sure. I personally did not have any in college! It was impossible because I have 2 little ones at home and had a hectic course load as well. In high school though, I was Senior Class President & was involved with ASB all 4 years, but i'm not sure if they took that in to consideration seeing as it was almost 3 years ago. I have a 3.4 GPA, and honestly I was surprised I got in because of how competitive it is. So APPLY and keep applying, you never know until you try :)
  3. Thanks! Okay so I will definitely take Chem and Micro before A&P. I want to be prepared.
  4. Thanks for the advice . I took the first Anatomy test today and I didnt feel as confident as I should have and I know I will not get the grade I want. I am going to stay in the class for a few more days to feel out the teacher and prepare myself for when I have to take it again. I will just focus on other course load and make sure I get As in all of those. I rather get good grades in the classes rather than just try to get them out the way.
  5. My teacher advises that we take chem and biology before her A&P class as well. I think it would be smart to just drop it and take it when I am completely prepared. Thanks for the advice! I take the first exam today at 12:30, I will see how I do but as of right now I am considering officially dropping it, if it is already stressful in the first few weeks, then I dont want to get too far in and realize i should have just dropped it. Thanks again guys for all the advice it is a ton of help to hear from people who have been there before :)
  6. Thank you! Thats what I was thinking.. The first 2 chapters we discussed were Cells and Tissues, and we went through both chapters in like 4 lectures which was really quick and I didnt feel like I really understood the way I wanted to. Cytology is very interesting and complex and I must grasp that information so that the rest of A&P will make sense. So I will take Micro and organic chem next semester and A&P the following, which should make it easier
  7. This semester I am taking Chemistry, Statistics, Nutrition, A&P, and Intro to Music 17 credits. The third week of school is approaching and A&P is driving me insane The class is so demanding and I have neglected my other classes in the procress of trying to keep up in A&P. The sad part about it is I still do not feel like I am dedicating enough time to this course, and it isnt by choice. I have a 9 month old, my husband plays football so he is extremely busy but tries to help around the house, and all our family is back home in CA. Okay enough about that, I was just wondering if it would be smarter to drop A&P (I can drop the course without a "W" before Sept 18 and it will not show on my transcript) and take it during a semester when I can my work load lighter so I can focus 110% on A&P. I dont want to get a C or B, I want an A. We have our first test tomorrow and I have studied so hard and yet I am still lost. I know I can understand the material if I was able to be completely immersed in it alone. Anatomy will be a major part of my nursing career and I want to fully understand it, not just try to get the grade. I know I can get As in all the other courses I am taking this semester but not if I had to take A&P as well. Also, should I take microbiology and organic chemistry before A&P? Basically, would it be beneficial to just take A&P right before I enter nursing school (like the semester or two before)? I know I was babbling so I hope you guys can understand what I'm asking. Any advice from someone experience would be great, or just any opinions please! I want to be competitive when I apply to a nursing school when I move back to CA. (UCLA, Azusa Pacific, Loma Linda, Cal-State Fullerton, etc.) PLEASE HELP ASAP, thanks :wink2:
