APU ELM Summer 2018

U.S.A. California

Hi Everyone!

I don't see a thread for prospective students for Azusa Pacific University's ELM program for the Summer 2018 so I decided to start one.

I am Iliana and I submitted my completed application back in May. As the deadline approaches July 1st, I hope we can support each other and update one another as we move through the process of applying, interviewing, and getting admitted!

Hi Guys!

I just received a call and was scheduled to interview!! Hopefully you all will be getting a call soon. Have a great weekend!

CONGRATS! When did you submit your app?

I submitted my application at the end of May and it was completed mid-June!

That's great! Very early!

Hi everyone!

So i applied for the spring start for 2018, but i was instead admitted into the summer start for 2018. Has this happened to anyone? This is for the main campus.

Hi everyone!!

I also applied this cycle for the SD campus. I was super nervous they would call while I'm out of the country (which of course they did) so the rep emailed me and set up my interview for next Wednesday!

Does anyone know any interview questions they ask/what the writing sample prompt typically is?

Excited to have this thread and support one another :)

Nurse.amb congrats on receiving a call from APU! I recently had my interview last week at the IE campus for summer 2018 cohort. The interview was very conversational with the main purpose of really getting to know you and how well you will do in their program. I would suggest digging deep within yourself and reflect on why you want to be a nurse and how APU aligns with your career and personal goals. Majority of questions were general in nature; why nursing? Describe a difficult moment and how you adapt and learned from that experience?, what are your strengths/weaknesses?, how do you deal with stress?and most importantly why APU?

The writing prompt is very simple, especially since you only have 15-20 mins to respond. I wouldn't stress too much about the prompt, focus on prepping for the interview portion. Practice interviewing yourself out loud, in front of a mirror or even with your friends or family. Make sure your voice projects loudly and you're clear, confident and concise!

Best of luck to you!

Can anyone share the approximate length of the BSN portion? Idk why, but I thought it was 16 months. Is it longer?

Hey Everyone!

I also applied to the summer 2018 term. I submitted all my transcripts and letters of recommendations early June and submitted my application a week before the deadline. I've had some struggles along the way - apparently one of the recommenders didn't submit the correct form which really delayed my application process. Also, one of my transcripts never arrived. I really don't know what happened. I confirmed that everything was submitted on time and correctly but unfortunately the school didn't informed me about these issues till after the deadline. Also, the school wasn't specific as to what exactly was wrong with my application. I literally kept calling and emailing everyday until finally I got an update in regards to what was wrong with my application. Finally, on July 20th, I got confirmation that my application was finally complete and submitted to the academic department. The program representative informed me that I could possibly still be accepted to the summer 2018 cohort despite the delay but if anything that my application would be placed on hold for the fall 2018 cohort. At this point, I'm just hoping I get accepted into the program. It would break my heart to get rejected.

Also, for those that graduated with their BA with a gpa lower than a 3.0, stay positive. Before applying I spoke to the program representative a year ago - the representative informed me that APU doesn't just look into your grades and that APU has more of a "holistic approach." I suppose that means that they care about the "whole person." My gpa wasn't at a 3.0 when I received my Bachelors, in order to improve my grades I decided to complete an AA degree with their online program which really boosted my gpa. Also, when you're being interviewed, mentioning that you're willing to go to any campus will increase your chances of getting accepted (I really don't know if that's even true) but the representative informed me that it would make you a more competitive candidate.

Anyway, I've been so stressed out with my application and now I'm just hoping the wait of knowing doesn't last forever. Best of luck to everyone!!

I edited my post

When I spoke to one of their representative about a year ago - he informed me that it was approximately 18 months/4 semesters. So, I'm assuming that it would be one year (fall, spring, summer) and one more term. So, let's say you begin Summer 2018, I'm assuming that you would be done by the end of Summer 2019.
