Hello!
I don't see a thread for prospective students for Azusa Pacific University's ELM program for the Summer 2015 start so I decided to start one.
I am Vanessa and I am just about to send in my complete application packet this week. I am early though since the deadline is not until 1 July.
I hope we can support each other and update each other as we move through the process of applying/interviewing/admittance!
Looking forward to meeting you all!
Hi Everyone, Congrats on your acceptances, I'm accepted to the Summer 2015 Inland Empire Cohort. @Ajwri84, Did you create the facebook group? I'm wondering if I can get an invite? My email address is: [email protected]
Thanks!
Hi everyone! I will be starting at the Azusa SD campus this summer, I'm so excited! Can someone send an invite to me to join the fb page? I don't have fb, but my husband does, so I'll communicate through his page: [email protected]
Thank you!
Hi @valplal 562. The ELM program is $592/unit so it's definitely more expensive than state schools but I am starting the program next month and I really think it's going to be worth it. Usually you will be taking 17 units per semester for the pre-licensure part which works out to $30,192 per year. Most people (including myself) get loans and you can get the Direct Stafford loan (up to $20,500 per year at ~6% interest) and pay for the rest with Grad Plus loans (~7% interest) up to the full cost of attending the program. It sounds like a lot but it's only for the first 18 months of the program and after than you will be able to work as an RN and get a jumpstart on paying back those loans and tuition will be cheaper for the master's portion since you'll be taking a lot fewer units at a time. As long as you pay back your interest in small payments each month (like $50 a month I believe), you won't have as much interest to pay back in the end so I think it seems totally doable and it's absolutely worth making the investment. APU is a highly respected school and it's less expensive than most private institutions in CA. Good luck! :)

Just wondering - is anyone taking or has taken the online physiology class through APU? Does anyone want to sell their old microscope? Thanks!
