Hello,
just starting a forum thread so all applicants or future applicants can communicate with each other regarding the application.
I have applied to Azusa Pacific ELM program for Spring 2021 at the Inland Empire. I have not gotten an interview yet but hopefully soon, fingers crossed. Anyone gotten a response yet?
I completed my Bachelors at APU. Was denied twice. I have years of experience in health care and good recommendations. I wish they would provide a reason as why not accepted. For those whod like to connect about where else to apply, here is my email address.
Dont give up guys!

I was accepted to the SD campus, so I don't know if it makes a difference in terms of stats. My stats definitely show that they do not only focus on GPA. My overall GPA is a 3.68, but that is combined with my first years at community college where I had personal stuff going on. I did graduate with an SDSU uperdivision GPA of 3.9 and honors in my major. My science GPA is 3.69. I have over 200 hours volunteering in the perinatal unit of Sharp Mary Birch and had my lead nurse write me a letter of rec. I do have to say that I am pretty good at writing, so I think my personal letter I wrote and the summary I did probably benefited me. I was also raised a Christian and, I don't know if anyone else was asked, but my interviewer asked if I had any volunteer experience in a church setting, so I luckily had quite a bit. All of this is speculation though. One last thing, during my interview, what I originally thought was a detriment might have helped me was when she asked if I had any caregiving experience for family or friends. My grandpa, whom I helped caregive for, passed away just two months prior and I started bawling while telling her my experience with him. Honestly, I do not think I will ever know why exactly they chose me over others, but for those that did not get accepted, do not give up hope! This was one of the only schools I got accepted at because of my lower GPA.
Rejected for the SD campus.
Stats: 3.4 cum (UC Berkeley, Psych Major) I have a strong upward trend and everything I've taken in the last several years has been A's, 1 or 2 B's. I went out of my way to keep taking advanced coursework in biochem, endocrinology, pharmacology. Pre-req was 3.9 or 4.0 I believe.
Experience: ~200 hours as a hospital volunteer. Earned my CNA cert and worked 8 months as a CNA. Roughly 1 year as an ER scribe. Then worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator in spine/neurosurgery for another 6 months.
I drove ~4 hours to interview and 4 hours back. I really felt great about the interview and had lots to talk about given my experience and personal/academic growth.
I'm heartbroken and at this point unsure of what to do. I've worked so hard and just want an opportunity and I've been rejected from another program. Others I don't even know if they will be continuing, given COVID and what not. I wonder if they thought I was overqualified and would not be attending, even if admitted. I'm so desperate for some good news right now... this is crushing.

Ahh?? to everyone who got denied. Don’t give up guys. I know there is a school out there that will accept us. I have to say that if anyone plans to reapply, it’s a good idea to change personal statement, letters of rec, and also add some things to resume. Maybe get a clinical position, volunteering, etc. They want to see change.
