Per the request of janina08I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :)
Maaaaaaaveeeeeee!!!!!!! thanks so much! hi guyz.. join me in this thread!!! i'll be taking the exam on the 23rd of april.. wahh.. ive been using suzanne's plan, just emailed her for the next thing to do. hope il pass!! i know we can if we'll pray for each other.. before i start my review, i pray first, ask His guidance and also for courage, strength and determination as I do my review and preparations..and before i go to sleep, i pray again..
my anxiety level is increasing as the days pass
wow.. let's just study now since all the time in this world is in our hands but on the day of our exam, let's all surrender to God all the things that we reviewed and just trust Him, He'll do the rest..
I'm testing in April, 8 years after graduation. Call me crazy. People have.
Anyways, I've been studying since June 07. I started with the Saunders book and read it all. I'm halfway through the CD Q's in Study mode. I also did the NCSBN review which I did like. I read the Kaplan's strategy book and found some of their strategies confusing and their Q's a bit hard. Needless to say, I'm sticking to Saunders.
Best of luck to everybody!
I posted this on another thread, but I think everyone here could benefit from it too. :)
There is a nice mnemonic device that I learned in school:
R : Respiratory
O: Opposite
M: Metabolic
E: Equal
This means that if the values for the pH and CO2 go in opposite directions (if pH is low and CO2 is high) then it is of a respiratory nature.
Now, if the values of the pH and HCO3 go the same way (meaning that if the pH is low and the HCO3 is low as well) then it is of a metabolic nature.
This helped me a lot while I was in school. Hope it helps everyone!
