Approved for License After Assault Charge?

Published

I recently ent in my Declaratory Order to the TBON and got fingerprinted.

I'm SO terrified. I got a misdemeanor assault charge in early 2011 at 18 years old. I completed differed adjudication probation early. I paid all of my fees on time and did all of my community service. I had a clean record up to that point and since.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Were you approved and how long did it take?

I was approved through NCBON & I have a simple assault. Although I did nothing to obtain it after paying cost of court I wasn't able to appeal and knew nothing of the court system. I was 21,22 at the time.

Did you have to go through the $150 evaluation? How long did it take to get approved? How many years elapsed between your charge and your D.O? (If you don't mind me asking.)

Side-note... Is there a way to edit the original post? My 's' key didn't register when I was typing the word "sent" originally.

No I didn't have to pay extra and it didn't take long the same amount or time as anyone else's when applying and getting a date to test. Never once had a hard time. Just sent in my paper work and explained why I had the charge even for the hospital with my clinicals.

I graduated in 2008 and the charge was in 2007.

I've been contacting the board and I found out my case goes into the first (and hopefully only) stage of review tomorrow. They said they can make a decision anywhere between Friday and July 18th, but more than likely much closer to the 18th. I'm so nervous guys. :barf02:

Hi CMLPN08,

I was wondering if you have had any trouble finding employment. I have an assault charge in the 4th degree because I left a scratch on an ex boyfriends neck trying to get him off of me. I am so scared that I will not be able to work at a hospital or any government agencies for health education. Please share your experience.

Thanks so much!

I haven't tried yet, they won't even let me enroll in the nursing program at my college until my declaratory order has been processed. They have limited space and don't want to waste a spot on someone who can't get their license in the end.

I've had no trouble finding a job. I have been an lpn for 6yrs in Sept and I got the charge before school.

Hi. When you say "simple assault" what do you mean? I have two Assault causes Bodily Injuries .. So I'm just curious. Thanks.

I am going through this right now.. simple assault is the only thing i am worried about. Did it affect you attending clinicals?

simple assault is the same as assault 4 which can occur anytime you are within striking distance and a person is threatened.
