Applying to UCLA MECN to start Fall 2015?

Published

Hi! Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program? Last year I applied and wasn't accepted. I believe they accepted around 12%. They had 70 spaces down from 90 the previous year.

so i called the office... they said we will all find out by the end of this week. they said they are still accepting ppl but i don't believe it because waitlists are coming out.

Has anyone else gotten a wait list #?

Received mine, number 32 on waitlist :/

Does anyone know how many people are in the cohort this year? My friend was #40 on the waist las year and got in...

@ucla2015 Would you mind if I ask what letter your last name starts with? I wish they had let everyone know at the same time. I hate seeing myself still having hopes --:;

@ gcarrasco920. That's because last year decisions came out VERY LATE and other people would have enrolled at other places. This year, waitlisters will have to wait longer because decisions for other schools have not come out yet and people will have to wait for financial packages. Also, some people put down a deposit then withdraw.

@ s1101ky. You are right. Some schools I apply to release decisions all together at once and at one school, someone emailed the entire pool of applicants to expect a decision first week of March.

When do all of those who have been accepted have to notify if they will be attending or not?

@charming_kitty

Why would admissions counselor lie to you that they are still accepting ppl when you called this afternoon? I checked the application status online nothing new since last Saturday! Will this mean that I am rejected? I wish I could know where I am so that I can move on!

Did anyone get accepted/denied today? Or were they all waitlist? This is all very strange but I really don't think that the office would lie though. Maybe its just a matter of getting these notices out.

What a poppin thread! For two of my schools, interview invites have been sent out at random times, and so has acceptances after that.. all leading to a definite LAST date they expect to send out everything by.

For those on waitlist, has your status changed on https://appstatus.grad.ucla.edu/Account/Login.aspx ?

My thinking is that the office would say "people are still getting accepted" because if they say "we have finished sending out acceptances" then that basically tells anyone who calls that they have been declined. I'm sure they don't want to (and shouldn't) give people their status over the phone or even hint to it.
