Hello all~
I'm working very hard to see if I can enter SWIC nursing program for Fall 2011. I would like to make of this thread a place where we can give each other support. Right now I'm taking a couple of classes ;Chemistry & Psychology until October and then I start Microbiology, Developmental Psychology, and Sociology until December plus the CNA course in November. I'm going bananas with all the credits and amount of work I'm dealing with. I'm committed to this but I have to confess I'm so scared I will not reach my goal and not have enough points in the end after all the effort. Thank God I can express myself here because I think no one around me understands what I'm going through to make it happen.
MyGen- I didn't get in last year, and I didn't get a letter but I was supposed to. When I called up there to see what was going on she said that I should have received a letter stating I wasn't accepted. She said they all get mailed out at the same time. I guess mine just got lost in the mail.

Oh wow...that means that if we indeed receive a letter it can go both ways. Oh well. Thank you!
Do you know how many points you ended up with?
Yes, unfortunately I have 15 points only. I could not take my last class, Intro to Soc as I planned this past Winter (3 week class) due to having my husband's family visiting for Christmas the same three weeks I was suppose to take that intensive class...that would have helped me have 16 points. I have all A's in the pre-requisites and part D as well. I also made the President's list in the college I attended to do my pre-req. and it is written on the transcript SWIC received but the truth is that if one does not have the minimum points, it won't matter. I know in 2009 the minimum was 15, some people made it and others were alternates but last year was higher. I wish I could know the number for 2011.
Yeah, last year I believe I had 15.5 and she said that any other year I would have been in, but they had more applicants than usual. So I retook a couple classes, and now my points are up to 18! I hope you get in, but if not don't give up. Last year I felt so bad after learning I didn't get in because I was so close, but I just had to tell myself there is always next year. I know it put my family another year behind in our plans, but I knew I couldn't beat myself up over it. I really hope you get in though!!

Thank you girl! I really take to heart your words! I am happy that your hard work will finally pay off. You deserve it!
And the beat goes on....
So I was looking over the stuff that we will need to do "if" we are accepted. I see there are a couple of orientations, and some sort of a "kit" or something online that consists of the criminal report, drug test, etc... I think this all cost over $100 for the nursing program. Does anyone know from friends of past years in the program if this is something that we will have to buy immediately, like at orientation in April/May, before the calculations class begins in the summer or maybe not until we begin working in a hospital, which I believe starts as early as the fall semester. All the sudden besides the fear of getting accepted into the program, the added costs is starting to hit me.
By the way, my name is Tracy if you couldn't tell. It's been nice and comforting talking to people who are going through the same thing. Thanks!
MyGen (Irma), you said you had 15 points with all A's in the prereqs and in section D, with the exception of Soc unfortunately, the holidays make it so hard to get everything done don't they?! Were you able to get any points from the entrance exam?Wishing everyone the best of luck....
Hello Tracy!
No, I wish I could have gather at least 2 in the English section (Math is no my friend) but no. I should have studied the book a little more. Lesson learned!

Does anyone know if they send letters to students that are not going to be accepted just to let them know? Thanks!
