Applying to SWIC Fall 2011?

Published

Hello all~

I'm working very hard to see if I can enter SWIC nursing program for Fall 2011. I would like to make of this thread a place where we can give each other support. Right now I'm taking a couple of classes ;Chemistry & Psychology until October and then I start Microbiology, Developmental Psychology, and Sociology until December plus the CNA course in November. I'm going bananas with all the credits and amount of work I'm dealing with. I'm committed to this but I have to confess I'm so scared I will not reach my goal and not have enough points in the end after all the effort. Thank God I can express myself here because I think no one around me understands what I'm going through to make it happen.

Ok thanks Erin!

Yeah, I just tried to call and register over the phone, and they said they can't let me b/c I'm not registered this semester. They said the first day for people not currently enrolled is May 2nd.

Hi Ladies,

I need to dig up my nursing packet again. So, we are only allowed to take the calculations course in the summer, correct? What classes do we register for the Fall semester (100, 102, 103, and 104?)

Yes, we can only take calculations course in the summer. For the fall, I registered for 102, 103 and 104. Hopefully I did it right...if not, I guess I'll find out next Thursday.

pfft, guess I got lucky. That totally stinks they didn't let you register!

NE 100 over the Summer, 102, 103, 104 in the Fall! Let the fun begin ladies!

I called Candice today in the Nursing Dept. and she told me to wait until orientation to register. I was a bad girl and registered anyway. I hesitated to wait because I need a specific schedule so I can be home for kiddos after school. I didn't attend Spring semester either, but was able to register with no problems (I registered online.) Who knows, we'll see if I screwed it up eventually...LOL

Did she tell you why you needed to wait? I registered also and I made sure that my 102 day/times did not interfere with my 104 day/times. I need a specific schedule, too. Well if we did anything wrong, we should be able to swap classes, hopefully without any fees...I'm wondering about clinical times and if we start clinicals this semester or next. Does anyone know?

I was impatiently waiting for my letter to get here, now I'm impatiently waiting for next Thursday... :o

Margaret

I am not allowed to register online, or even calling for nursing classes either. I was able to register this summer for a pre req I still need but they told me that they would register me in nursing classes when I went to orientation.

Hi Ladies,

No, she didn't give a reason. I think she probably gets deluged with calls every year! LOL

I figure if I did it wrong, I can just go online and cancel my registration. The only thing that confused me was trying to figure out a schedule that (at first) seemed to conflict. Then I realized one of the classes doesn't start until halfway through the semester (clinicals maybe?).

So, were any of you ladies at the meeting tonight? I was there.

Hi. I'm going to attend tonight's orientation. How did the it go? Do you feel more prepared for what is to come and what needs to be done?

Kelly, I'll be there tonight. I hope Jessica doesn't mind me reposting what she told me on Facebook about the meeting last night:

You get a lot of papers! Lol. She shows us a uniform that we need. You have to get your uniform from a certain website. We need all of our medical stuff and new paperwork in by Aug 1st. She handed out a paper that gives dates/times for ou...r CPR certification. She also said we will be having another orientation the 2nd or 3rd Friday in July. She gave us info on the proficiency test for NE 100, but I'm taking that class. She said that it's not a math test, it's about calculating for IV drips and stuff. So I want to take the class to get a full knowledge of how to calculate it.

Thanks, Jessica!
