Hello all~
I'm working very hard to see if I can enter SWIC nursing program for Fall 2011. I would like to make of this thread a place where we can give each other support. Right now I'm taking a couple of classes ;Chemistry & Psychology until October and then I start Microbiology, Developmental Psychology, and Sociology until December plus the CNA course in November. I'm going bananas with all the credits and amount of work I'm dealing with. I'm committed to this but I have to confess I'm so scared I will not reach my goal and not have enough points in the end after all the effort. Thank God I can express myself here because I think no one around me understands what I'm going through to make it happen.
So did everyone send both disclosure forms signed back with their acceptance letters or are you taking them to orientation? Also, are we getting the information about immunizations at orientation? I just want to make sure I wasn't supposed to already have that ready as well. Thanks everyone for your help!!! Tracy
I mailed back the:
-confirmations slip
-authorizaiton for disclosure & drug testing etc. release of student information
-faxed then mailed back the certified background release form
They want you to complete the drug testing i think within 7 days of receiving the receipt.
This is all I have done so far and I think all you can do for now until orientation from talking to the directior of the nursing program. The only thing I would do is start gathering important info on health immunizations and vaccines of your medical history.
Hope this helps and if anyone knows anything else we need to do please let me know!!:)
Hi Trace,
I sent all forms back with my acceptance letter. I ordered the background test, and they will email you with the drug testing information. You will print it out and take it with you to your closest testing center. You have 7 days from the time you receive the testing center confirmation to get the test done. Most of the testing centers are open M-F and Saturday. You can make an appointment or just walk in. They suggest you try to come after 10:00 a.m. since they are less busy after this time. I'm going to take mine on Monday. If you haven't done the background test yet, it was very easy. They want your addresses from the last seven years. Unfortunately, I had to pay an additional $40.00 since I have lived in other counties throughout the country. If you have lived other places earlier than 7 years ago, they will just charge your credit card or bill you for the additional addresses they find.
Hope this helps. I've pretty much checked everywhere and cannot find my immunization records, so I guess I'll be taking the full set again. Most schools will only hold records for a few years after a student has graduated, so my high school and previous university didn't help much.

Hey ladies! Glad everyone has the ball rolling on background checks and drug tests! I went and did mine 2 days ago and let me tell you that was one of the smallest specimen cups I have ever had to pee in! LOL
I will be induced to have my Daughter on May 1st and she will be born May 2nd--so to anyone who sees the girl who looks absolutely miserable on the 6th for orientation, that'll be me lol. Anyone know how long we will be there for orientation?
Erin- I think I have to wait unti May 2nd to enroll b/c I took this semester off so I'm not a "current student". Is the permission slip to enroll in the NE classes or to enroll tomorrow? If it's for the NE classes, the only thing I could think of is they will hand it out at the orientation. I'm hoping for the tuesday/thursday morning summer class though!
Also, I am open to people adding me on facebook. Just search for my name. Jessica Garritson.

Hi Kelly,
You only need addresses for the past 7 years. I spoke with Candice yesterday, she said anything older than 7 years they will find when doing the residency background check. They will charge you at a later time for any checks they have to do outside MO and IL. Hope that helps. Kristina
