Applying for RN in CA

Published

I am applying for RN in California. My case is: I was arrested, I took pretrial diversion class, and my case was dismissed and my arrest was turned into a detention. I have no convictions at all, and never went to court.

I am wondering how people in my situation should apply for NCLEX-RN in California.

1. Should I submit my arrest record and recommendation letters?

2. For the section that says "Have you ever been convicted of a crime?" What do I write?

In general, has anyone been in this situation of similar? Thanks in advance.

I was arrested with a misdemeanor in CA, took a class for it at pretrial diversion, and the prosecutor never filed the case. So I never had to go to court and was not convicted. Since no case was even filed, my arrest was changed to a "detention only."

1. I am applying for NCLEX-RN in California. Do I need to submit all the documents (arrest record, rec letters, etc)?

2. What do I put for the conviction question on the NCLEX-RN application?

Thank you in advance.

I would say disclose everything upfront . Since you were never convicted, you answer no to conviction .

@ati-Murse: What additional documents should I include along with rec letters and arrest record?

I don't work for the CA BON but I am sure they have specific paperwork they would want. Just wait till they request it

Anyone have been in this situation so I know what to expect?

I haven't been in this situation before but I would suggest for you to do a fbi background check on yourself to see if it shows up.

Anyone have been in similar situation?

I did and it does show up as no conviction and "detention only"
