DUI in Maryland

Published

In need of some help/advice.
I recently received a DUI (a misdemeanor in MD) in the state of Maryland. I have not been charged, only issued a citation awaiting a court date. It was a stupid mistake, and I regret it more than anything. My question is based on anyone's experiences, if you feel comfortable to share, will my license be taken away? I have nothing else on my record, not even a speeding ticket. I know every states BON is different, but I'm just looking for general advice.
In addition, if I receive a PBJ (probation before judgement) do I need to report that to the BON?
Or do I report the DUI right away to the Maryland BON? I can't find Info regarding their reporting policy.

You should consult your attorney, we can't give you legal advice. TAANA is a nurse-attorney organization that may be of use to you. Things like this can definitely impact your license, I don't have personal experience to share but I know friends who have both kept their license and who have lost licenses in neighboring states from you under similar circumstances. Best of luck!

I would definitely report it but it may require you to submit a paper application for your initial licensure, they also will need any documents you can get surrounding the case. I applied for my licenses and certifications after completing my probation requirements so I can't say for sure what they will want before they even bring it before the board, but J would assume that you would need to turn in signed statement with your details surrounding to charges, the police statement, your court notice if you have received it, & it would be in your best interest for court & the BON to start attending substance abuse counseling & AA/NA meetings. Character witness letters wouldn't hurt either,

Good luck with the Board & in court.

Hi! Any update on your case? I am going through a similar situation
