I applied for Carson-Newman University online MSN-FNP program for Spring 2020. What are your thoughts about the school? Any information about the program is greatly appreciated!
Hi! I see you mentioned you are in the program currently. Just wanted to ask you a few questions. How are you liking the program so far? Are you working and taking two classes at the same time? Is it more paper based or test / quiz work? I just applied to CN and 2 other school and is wanting to get little more info on each program. Thanks so much I advance!!
Sure I’m glad to answer your question. I’m in the post Masters’s program. So I am taking one class at a time. I’m enjoying the program a lot and learning a great deal. All of my classes so far usually have one or two papers in addition to exams. Some classes do have quizzes as well which helps you retain the information. I’m also working full time, which can be challenging, but most of my classmates are working full time as well. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
Thank you so much for your input! Also are you in your clinical rotation yet? Are they helping you locating preceptors? I know they said they will but from lots of forum I read said this can be very general and they still want students to find someone first. Just wanted to get as much as info before I decide on the program.
thanks again!
I’m lucky that I found my preceptors at my work. I didn’t have to use them. They will always suggest you try to find local ones since you could travel up to an hour or more if they have to find you one. Some people still don’t have preceptors because of everything going on with Covid. But they are allowing people to make up their hours in other semesters.
I am not in the traditional program. I will say that it is very busy with 2 classes and working full time. For my class it has been rather difficult to get in touch with advisors or professors for answers. I am learning a lot but also I have a class that there are no lectures or power points so it is a teach yourself class. It is a mix of tests and papers. Good Luck
Hey everyone, I was accepted to Carson-Newman MSN-FNP program online as well as the United States University MSN-FNP program. I am trying to weigh out which option is the best option for me and I was wondering if anyone had some insight on how this program is and how it is run? Thank you in advance!
I'm finishing up my first semester now. Pharmacology with Dr E is wonderful! He's easy to reach and responds to emails. Very engaging and tough. I've learned so much in his course.
Patho is BAD, as in they don't teach the course. I feel disappointed in how it's been handled. Lectures are Youtube videos from 2013 and tests are straight from the books test bank. I have been told they are wanting to restructure this class due to all complaints.
I have A's in both courses and they are very time consuming for being part time.
I have an application to transfer to a local brick and mortar school. If I'm not accepted, I'll continue at CN. It isn't the worst, but it isn't the best either.
Good luck in whatever you choose!
Thank you for the information! That is disappointing about the patho class and hopefully they do tweak the class and lectures, 2013 is quite a bit back and so much has changed. I start May 10th and looking forward to getting back into school! If you stay in this program please keep me updated on how you feel about the other classes you take! Thank you again for responding

I just started advanced health assessment. It’s a learning curve for sure. But I’m only taking one class at a time. So I can focus more on this course. The application process was pretty easy. Had to write a essay and get reference letters. Basics items for any applications nowadays. Feel free to ask me any more questions. I just convinced one of my friends to go back to school for NP. Lots of opportunities.
Hi! I was recently accepted to CN FNP for the fall and was wondering if anyone would mind telling me a little more about your experience with the school and program and if you were happy with it and would choose them if you could do over again?

Hi! Did you end up attending the FNP program? If so, if you don't mind, what are your thoughts on it?
