I applied for Carson-Newman University online MSN-FNP program for Spring 2020. What are your thoughts about the school? Any information about the program is greatly appreciated!

It doesn't matter who you have because everyone takes the same tests, some profs are more responsive if you have a question or issue.
Einhardt teaches pharm, no book and writes his own lectures and exams. He is phenomenal. I learned so much from him.
Wonderful! Thank you!
Yes Dr E is absolutely wonderful.. I have learned so much from him and have been applying his information to patho class also. He has great lectures and has practice tests to review.. and also if he feels as though the question was unfair or if there is more than 50% that got it wrong then he gives points back. I have really really enjoyed his class and hope to have him again!

I don’t know if she is just overly busy or what the issue is but we turned in a rough draft to a paper and that was 2 weeks ago and still no feedback and no answer to an email. It’s just a tad bit frustrating, and overall hopefully the classes are more like pharm.
That is frustrating! I hope so too. But you like the program overall, otherwise?

Thank you! Honestly, all the positive feedback on the pharm professor has really made me excited for this class.
Just now, ArmyRN79 said:Yes. NP school doesn’t require specific specialty experience like ICU/ER for anesthesia school. I do have a background in ICU, PACU and step down, and I’ll be honest and say it does help especially with patho and advanced pharm.
Gotcha. I will only have OR background so I never considered an NP Program until I read about APRNs getting their RNFAs and thought hmm I wonder if I could do that too. I’m fearful of leaving the OR to go into an ICU or step down unit because I’ll just feel extra green after being out of the typical nursing world. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the info!
Just now, ArmyRN79 said:Well I have been in the OR strictly for over 10 years, so I completely understand where you are coming from. However, I think you can still do it. The program teaches you everything you need to know. You just need to have solid clinical experiences. That is key.
Thank you! did you choose FNP or acute care and why?
Just now, ArmyRN79 said:I chose FNP because the Army only recognizes FNP, ENP, and Psych NP’s. Since I plan to stay in for another 6 years it was the only way to get out of the OR. Plus FNP is one of the most diversified specialties.
Ohhh OK , makes sense, I wasn’t sure if you were trying to use it to be able to bill in the OR or if you were trying to make an exit. And thank you for your service, and your insight !
