Applied for Carson-Newman University MSN-FNP Program. Need your input/advice!

Updated:   Published

I applied for Carson-Newman University online MSN-FNP program for Spring 2020. What are your thoughts about the school? Any information about the program is greatly appreciated!

Anyone have any info about the program? Do you like it so far? How was the application process? I am so nervous to take this leap but excited at the same time.

I just finished advance Patho and pharmacology. They were tough taking them together but I learned a great deal for sure. I just started advanced health assessment. It’s a learning curve for sure. But I’m only taking one class at a time. So I can focus more on this course. The application process was pretty easy. Had to write a essay and get reference letters. Basics items for any applications nowadays. Feel free to ask me any more questions. I just convinced one of my friends to go back to school for NP. Lots of opportunities.

Awesome! Can I take them separate. I do worry about taking more than one course at a time because I will still have to work full time. I just wanted something different than Walden/Chamberlain route but that is just my personal preference.

I get that. I work full time as well. I hear you can take them separately, but honestly it was better together since the exams are a total of 80 questions 40 from Patho and 40 from pharm with a combined grade. The systems coincide together as well which was helpful. So whenever we discussed the GI system we also went over the medications as well. I don’t regret taking them together and now that it’s over it was worth it.

Were you able to take all your courses online? I am currently on the on-campus BSN program.

Yes all of my courses are online. I have a three day residency over the Summer for adv health assessment. I did a brick and mortal school for my BSN.

Hi Guys, Just wanted to check in with you all and see how are you finding the program so far. I am thinking of applying for the MSN FNP program there. As per their website, they find the clinical placements for the students, Is that for students who live in-state or for everyone irrespective of which state they live in? Thank you in advance.

The clinical placement specialist will find a preceptor in your area. Because of the COVID situation, many places want to hold off on taking students. Hopefully everything will be back to normal soon.

Hey guys once again stressed out girl here. I got accepted to the program and start next week ???. It makes me nauseous thinking about and so worried about failing. Can you tell me how many credits you take on average per semester?

Just applied today. Hopefully I will get in and be able to start Spring 2021. How long did you guys waited before hear back a decision?  Where do you go to check on the status?

@Babeebean1

Don't be stressed! Just have good time management and you will be fine. I would love to be in your shoe right now. How long did it take for you to know you got accepted?
