Hello everyone! I was an avid reader of last years articles on applying to schools here, and it really helped me get an idea of how many points I would need. I thought I'd return the favor. So far I've only applied at PCC with 54.5 points (I think). For some reason, I'm not getting any discretionary points at Chemeketa and very few at Mt. Hood, so I might just forgo them this year. Is it just me or are schools going to a model where you can only really have a chance if you take the prereqs there? Anyways, good luck everyone!!!!
Hi everyone. I've been following these threads for the last few months and finally decided I should join the conversation.
I took the PCC essay yesterday. I felt I did fine but unfortunately the but the 50 minute time restriction doesn't allow for a lot of refinement. I was a lot happier with my OHSU essay, even if there was a lot more ground to cover.
As far as my background, I returned to school after being a stay-at-home dad/professional photographer for the last 10 years. My boys are in school now and photography isn't as fulfilling as I would have hoped. I've been accepted into Linfield's Fall BSN cohort but am hoping to have the choice between PCC and OHSU.
Osuchris, how confident are you that PCC went through their alternate list last year? If that trend held up this year that would be a comforting thought.
Good luck, everyone!
I attended a PCC nursing info session in Winter term and they mentioned there that they did in fact go through the entire wait list- one reason was because they were late at letting accepted students know, it was mid-June I think last year before they sent out notifications. This meant that a lot of students had already accepted spots at other programs- similar to the problem that CCC has been having for the past few years.
Hoping that you all hear back soon!
Hooray! Finally time for the interviews at CCC! As I mentioned before, I'll be there Wednesday afternoon. I am so happy to be getting all the interviews/essays out of the way. Even though this is the most important part of the application process, I can't help but feel it's a bit anticlimactic after all of the hard work we've put in just to apply! Good luck to you all and I can't wait to hear where we are all going to be in the Fall.

I finished my proctored essay at PCC this morning. Either it was pretty good or the worst thing I've ever written! LOL :)
I am happy to have one more step out of the way.
The information given at the essay was that they are offering acceptance the top 80 - have they always only taken 80? I thought I read 100 somewhere else...
