Applicants to Portland area schools 2013

U.S.A. Oregon

Hello everyone! I was an avid reader of last years articles on applying to schools here, and it really helped me get an idea of how many points I would need. I thought I'd return the favor. So far I've only applied at PCC with 54.5 points (I think). For some reason, I'm not getting any discretionary points at Chemeketa and very few at Mt. Hood, so I might just forgo them this year. Is it just me or are schools going to a model where you can only really have a chance if you take the prereqs there? Anyways, good luck everyone!!!!

It sure has been a crazy time in life. New CNA job to start. I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I'm 94 on the wait list at PCC, so that's not happening. Today I got a letter from OHSU regarding the 3 year program on the Portland campus and it says I am on the alternate list and am "highly likely" to be offered a spot for fall. I'm a bundle of nerves! Any other "highly likely" folks out there? Congrats to all that got in to a program this year!

I received an acceptance letter from both PCC and CCC! Hooray! Congrats to everyone else!

Jshayy: No worries! I will make my decision as quickly as possible so that others out there can learn their fate. Just need to crunch numbers, figure what works best for my family, hear from financial aid, etc.

I'm currently in PCC's program and am graduating in June. I used this site alot while waiting to see if I'd gotten into school and wanted to check in and see if you guys knew yet. :) Congrats to those of you who got in!!

Congrats, poppyanddelia! Best wishes to you! I wanted to say thank you for being upfront about making your decision as soon as you can. As one of the applicants who got bumped from accepted to wait listed in this thing at PCC, I really appreciate it. I totally understand that you need to take the time to make the right decision for you and your family - that's exactly what I would do, too. In trying to find some humor in this situation and look on the bright side - at least for me, it doesn't hurt that which ever one you don't take moves me up one on the wait list - since I'm wait listed at both! :)

I'm still hopeful too... If PCC makes it through as much of their wait list as last year we will be ok. I'm at 42 at PCC and on the alternate list at Clackamas. I plan on following through and attending all orientations in the hopes that I'll get it at one of them.

I definitely hope to get in this year as well. I am not sure how many students moved into the program last year from the wait list. But according to the posts in this forum, we have a very good chance of making it in! This is my 3rd year applying and I am so ready to get in and get started..haha...Did you take all your prereqs at PCC?? If so, which campus?

My understanding from this forum and from what was said when I sat for the essay is that last year they took nearly all of their wait list at PCC... They made it to somewhere around number 90, I believe. I took all my prereqs at Lane CC in Eugene, but I really need to move to Portland for my husband to work. I'm going to proceed with preparing for entry by attending the PCC orientation and doing the same at Clackamas, where I am also an alternate. I'll keep hoping for a Portland slot!

Actually one of the nursing school admin employees, *****, told me that last year they accepted through #75

Does anyone know about clackamas? I'm an alternate but since they won't tell me what # I'm not sure what to think or if I should hold out. It was my first choice...

I haven't received anything from Clackamas yet, so I'm assuming that I was denied??? That would be such a bummer! Anyone else not receive anything yet?

Thank you! I heard so many different numbers....

I haven't heard anything on how many they took from their wait list last year. I plan on sticking it out by keeping my alternate spots for both PCC and CCC. It means going through multiple orientations, but it's worth it if I get a spot!

I received an email on Friday around 5 pm. It said I was an alternate, that they would not tell me what position I was in on the alternate list and that the class would be finalized by October 14th. I don't know if those that were offered a position at Clackamas were given a deadline to accept (like PCC did) so I have no idea when I might here from them, if I move up.
