Applicants to Portland area schools 2011

How's everyone doing with their Apps?

I applied to MHCC, CCC, PCC and Linfield.

It's my first year applying and I'm a nervous wreck!!!

How long does it usually take to hear whether or not you got an interview?

I was glad to see CCC changed their deadline to Feb 15th like the other OCNE schools-I think it'll make the waiting more bearable!

Anyone else want to share points to see how tight the competition is this year?

Other than Mt. Hood, I don't get too many discretionary points. :(

Heres what I *think* I have (figuring them myself):

MHCC-63 points

CCC-50 or 51 points depending on how they round up your gpa

PCC-54 points

Good luck everyone!!!

Let the nail biting, stalking the mailbox begin! :lol2:

I'm scheduled for Sat Apr 16 at 11:00AM. I think this is first year CCC is doing essays. Hopefully, they won't be too picky.

Chemeketa did essays last year - same exact questions, too.

Yup and mine is the 16th at 8am. I honestly think Chemeketa is my best bet this year, so I am trying really hard to have a great essay. Good luck to everyone and CONGRATS to those who have been accepted already. :yeah:

Just received my essay letter from PCC! I am scheduled for the 21st.

Fantastic! Great news. OK...so we have an idea of whose getting them, can you post your application specs? For instance, GPA, prior degrees, work experience, etc?

K

I just got my essay invitation for 4/19 PCC also. First letter I've gotten with a "Congratulations" so far :)

I applied with 58. 5-ish points according to my calculations. PCC does not confirm the total.

I had a 4.0 with all pre-req's completed, foreign language, prior BA degree, and work experience (only 1 point of that), plus discretionary points for in-district stuff.

Kamaboko, I look forward to you posting your essay invitation when you get it!

I didn't get a confirmation of my points, but I figured I had 58 for sure. I had 0 discretionary points, but did have 4.0 GPA, previous associates degree, and foreign language. Oh, and all prerequisites finished. I will really have to rock the essay to have a chance against people who had higher points and are in-district. Still, it's nice to hear something positive! Thanks!

PS: On the letter I received, I was given a "student number" of 1000-something. I hand-delivered my application on the 15th, towards the end of the day - they probably assigned a number to each applicant; I bet that they received over a thousand applicants this cycle. Just to put into perspective... Nursing school in PDX has some pretty fierce competition. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks. I know I had 59.7 pts. Of course it wasn't confirmed, but I figure if I can't count to 100 I shouldn't be in this profession.

Oh, you'll get it for sure then! I'll just congratulate you in advance. Also - I edited my post to include my specs for my application.

Yes, you will get a letter for sure! Yeah! Did either of you do the essay at PCC last year?

This is my first round applying to schools, so I don't have prior essay experience.
