Hi fellow applicants for 2010!!
I wanted to start a thread for all of us who are applying to various nursing schools in the area for 2010. I have applied to five different places: OHSU-Monmouth, University of Portland, Portland Community College, The University of Washington, and Boise State University. I wanted to cover myself and hopefully ensure that I would get in somewhere. I have a really good GPA and experience as an EMT-Basic so I am hoping that that will help my chances.
Just waiting it out until they send out notifications.....I just want to hear back!!!
Good luck to everyone who applied!
I called Clackamas today. The letters with number of points are coming out on the 10th of April.
I believe she said there will be one week to dispute the points and decisions for the group interview will be mailed on 19th of April or so.
Thanks for calling and passing on the info! However, you mean "May" correct? Not "April" ???
Thx!
LilaOR! Thank you for your post!! I wish you the best at Linfield and your nursing endeavor!!!I like the dancing baby! Glad you feel better about everything. It's hard to stay positive, but I think good things will happen. We just have to keep our sight fixed and believe it will happen. Remind yourself that the wait is worth it because one day we will get to do something amazing and help people! Crossing my fingers for this week's OHSU letter!!!!
Good luck to you and everyone else that is still waiting! ☺
Purple rose,
Thx for following up on me! Yes, I am feeling much better! Still waiting to hear back from OHSU and CCC. Hope to hear from them sometime soon. I wish you and everyone good luck as well!
Amber in PDX----Like curious me, I made a list of all the schools I was interested in and then I focused on my top school choices. Instead of looking for schools that took the same prereq course though, I concentrated on completing the prereqs for the schools I really wanted to get into. Then from there I looked at other schools that I qualify to apply. But if you just really want to get into a school and if you don't have any preferences, I think the smarter way to do it would be how curious me did it because then you would have more options...
My advice to you is to try to really get all A's on your science courses if not all A's in all your prereq courses. Take your time and don't take more classes than you can handle because you want to do well in the prereqs. Also do volunteer work if you are not already doing so. Good luck to you!!
Kurd RN---soon we'll know! crossing my fingers!!!!!! I'll post as soon as I find out. Last week I did find out that I did not get into the Portland campus at OHSU though. The school called me and told me so. However, they asked if I was interested in the Ashland campus instead. Naturally I said of course!!! So I'm hoping I get into the Ashland campus! Wish me luck! I think this week we will hear for sure!
Hello! I am a pre-nursing student right now. Since all of you seem to have gotten pretty far in the process..I was hoping you could pass on some information to me. I have found it frustrating that every school in Oregon and Washington seems to have different requirements for pre-req's. Some require chem some not, some a certain specific BIO (other than A & P) some not..etc etc..How do you balance all of the pre-req's each school wants? It seems like I would have to be in school for an extra 2 terms JUST for the outside requirements schools ask for (other than A&P, PSYC, some addl form of BIO etc.). Can anyone give some advice?
Thank you!
Amber
A good way to start is by taking the classes that all the schools have in common. This helps because you can start applying before you are all the way done with all the pre-req's. Some schools have space for elective credits and you can use those classes to do classes for other schools. I hope that wasnt too confusing :)

Really??? I believe that is a very good sign that you are accepted, otherwise why would they even bother calling you? I am sure you are in, no need to cross any fingers on your part :-) CONGRATS !!! Wish you the best of luck with getting into Ashland campus, and hopefully that leaves me a spot at the Portland campus :-) Will also let you know as soon as I hear something.
