Applicants to Chico for Fall 2014??

Published

Hi Everyone!

I'm just putting my feelers out to find others applying to the BSN program at Chico State for the Fall of 2014. The deadline to apply is in a week, so I'm getting excited and antsy!! I am from Arcata (Humboldt County) and live here currently, but I am excited to be hopefully moving to Chico in the fall!!

Another 2 or 3 weeks might make me go insane! Gotta stay distracted.

Seriously I am going crazy!! It's all I think about. And this semester, my first ever, where I don't have any over-demanding classes to distract me. I think it's harder because we originally had the mindset of the 15th, and now it's going to be quite a bit longer. But, like allaboutkitties said we have made it this far what's a bit longer.

I don't even have school to distract me right now since I am literally finished with all my prerequisites and general education courses!!!! Only thing I can use as a source of distraction is work.

So guys, I have two questions:

- If we are accepted into the program, we still do not have to pay the 200 dollar deposit (intent to enroll) after May 1st right? I am assuming that once we press/pressed exempt, we are fully exempt...

- Is the first week of May is considered from April 28th to May 4th? or did they mean the first full week of may (May 5th to 11th)? *Shrugs..

allaboutkitties, I am not sure. I just submitted my intent, to get that done since we are exempt (at least for the time being). Oh my goodness, definitely use work to distract you since no classes.

I am not sure about the week timing either. I have been trying to figure that out too. Maybe someone else can be more helpful with your questions, because I wasn't at all haha. Ahh the wait....

Thanks caligirl7. if no one is able to answer my question, I will contact admissions and find out!

This is truly a test of patience. It's kind of scary though, isn't it? From the previous Chico threads I've read (from past years), Chico has been pretty spot on about notifying applicants. I wonder how many applications they received.

Ya that's what I think is making me more nervous. Not just the fact that they are delayed but because of how many applicants. It would be interesting to know the difference in number of applicants from this year compared to previous years. I was also wondering if they had any idea of the point cut off as of now. I am hoping that just because there are more applicants doesn't always mean they are qualified. Wishful thinking I guess. I am hoping this extra wait will pay off.

I've been wondering about the cut off for this year too! I predict that the cutoff will remain the same or increase by 1-2 points based off previous years statistics:

Applicant Statistics

Fall 2010: 84

Fall 2011: 82

Fall 2012: 83

Fall 2013: 86

Prediction: 86-88. Perhaps I'm completely wrong, who knows? (Got that info from there website in case anyone is wondering.)

It's all just a guessing game at this point.

I really hope that is the case that would be wonderful. I guess I am just not trying to get my hopes up and have a huge let down if I don't get in. Thank you for sharing that on here.

And this semester, spring, the cutoff was 87. They won't know cutoff points until they finish with all the applications. From what one of our professors told us, there were originally over 300 applicants but I'm sure it's in the 200s after people were disqualified. Good luck!

Yeah, I don't have school to distract me either, I am done with prerequisites and I just babysit a 6mo old baby all day so I have waaayyy too much thinking time. From what I've heard, all the CSU nursing programs seem pretty "stressed." Maybe there isn't enough staffing, or enough money, or enough organization....but it's still not fair for those of us waiting! I thought the whole point of them using the nursingCAS site was to make it more efficient for them.

As for the 200 dollar deposit, I don't think they could make us pay it after being exempt, but who knows, maybe they could find a way. But that would only be once we were accepted, so who even cares at that point? haha.

HAHAHA THIS. Seriously, what was the point of paying 45 dollars and sending the transcripts to god knows where in the country? I'm thinking NursingCAS may have messed up and didn't verify all the coursework of Chico applicants soon enough, also setting back Chico's timeline...

Hope everyone is hanging in there! :) :x3:
