I thought it'd be a good idea to create a forum for FIU's Accelerated Option BSN program for the application cycle of 2019 (graduation 2020). This way we can get to know each other and help each other out

So I have my bachelors in biological sciences and I finished with a 3.5, and my prerequisites I have probably a 3.9, but I took the TEAS and got an 86, so I’m planning on retaking it on Friday, but at the same time I’m terrified I’ll get a lower score and just start freakin out for the next few months. Any advice or words of encouragement please ? Thank you !!!
XD I don't have any words but im on the same boat. Fingers crossed that I get in! Good luck!

Hello! I am in the same boat as you. I got an 87% on my TEAS which also worried me and was thinking of retaking it. When I had a phone counseling session though I was told that this was competitive enough and not to retake it (although this was before all the program changes were announced). So I decided that I didn't want to beat myself up if I got a lower score and have to have an average of the scores instead of just accepting my 87%. I hope it is good enough.
I am going to instead start studying for the HESI this month to be able to apply to MDC.
Good luck with whatever decision you make. ?

That helps a lot. Thank you ! I wanted to apply to MDC stop but I have to register for that class they require. At the end of the day I have to start applying to other programs as a plan B so might as well start looking into other options ASAP.

If you have a medical license of some sort and a current CPR you can get an exemption for the HSC class and lab. In FL you can challenge the state exam for the CNA license (google Prometric Clinical Skills Checklist) and watch some youtube videos (4yourCNA are great) to see the skills and practice. I paid for a useless course for the CNA and then discovered that you can just challenge the exam without ever taking a class. Wish I knew that before and saved my time and money. The skills are easy and you most definitely don't need the classes.
Hi everyone! It was previously mentioned that now they will be accepting 60 students to the Spring 2020 cohort, but I got some more info from the advisor the other day, so I figured I would share. They are accepting 30 applicants from the pool of 2nd bachelor's degree students like always, and they are also accepting another 30 applicants from the Foreign Educated Physician pool. So, if we get in we will be in classes with about 60 students total (more than I anticipated), but this doesn't impact our chances of getting in at all, as they will still accept only 30 from each group.
Also, she said that the decision to switch from the 2-week December mini-term to the October start Fall B term was based on student feedback. She said that the 2-week term was too jam-packed and busy. When I spoke to her she said that they still hadn't determined the exact schedule for the Fall B term, but that the classes will definitely be during the day.
If anyone else has additional info, please share!

There’s a female advisor? I thought the only one was Christian. What’s her name?
@chillian https://cnhs.fiu.edu/academics/nursing/undergrad-nursing/programs/advising/index.html Michelle. Why? Did Christian tell you something different?

No, but I always wanted to get a second opinions on my chances and stuff but they always told me he was the only advisor.

Hi everyone,
I'm also applying to the Accelerated Option. 3.8 prereq, 3.6 undergrad, 82% TEAS. I'm a little nervous about the TEAS score but hoping for the best.
Good luck to us all!
