January 15 deadline has passed! I am extremely nervous and excited for April 2014 to come. I've been wondering. ..why does UIC take soooo long to make decisions for our applications? I am pretty scared because I did not apply at another University, all my marbles land on this ONE basket. All I can do is hope and pray I get in. Anyone that applied, feel free to post your comments and concerns on this thread. Best of luck to everyone!
I had my interview today. I was really nervous, but i think I do okay, not too good nor too bad. But I was a little confused. I didn't see the interviewers writing much down on paper. There were not really responsive either. They were not smiling or anything, which kind of scared me that maybe they didn't like our responses. I haven't applied to any other university, and I am regretting that now. Now, its too late.

My interviewers were the same -very nonchalant so as not to show preference for a student's answer. I'm guessing at this point, the interviewers just want to be fair. During my session, the interviewers were jotting down notes, but that's about it. Keep your hopes up though, since the interview and essay are only a portion of admission decisions :). Your GPA is spectacular! I'm sure you did well! I applied to a couple other programs, but UIC is my top choice.
Hi guys
I had my interview on March 4. I don't feel like I totally aced it or bomb it either, I believe I did ok, but I am also confused because my interviewers did not show much of reaction either. The writing portion is what's worrying me, I am not so confident in my performance there. I was too nervous and the room was to hot that enabled me to concentrate like I would of wanted too. I am a little bummed but still hopeful...
thanks PaulDee! You are very encouraging to everyone on this forum. I'm sure you are going to be an awesome nurse. I still do have hope, but i also do hope that I don't have to wait another semester to apply to other nursing programs. Because I wanted to get into this program for Fall 2014, I took classes from January to December nonstop 2013. I even did 3 classes over the summer. I took one science class that i didn't need, so I had to take a science class over the summer to finish the requirement that said you had to have 3 of the 5 sciences completed. I have worked so hard, and I'm sure everyone else have too. It will be just so discouraging if I don't make it into this program. If you don't mind me asking, what other programs have you applied to? I don't know why, I couldn't find any other nursing program that I was interested in. That's the reason I didn't I apply. I did like Resurrection University. It sounded like they have a good program. I just have too many thoughts in my mind right now.
Don't get discouraged guys! We did our best with the interview and writing exercises and that is what matters in the end. They know that everyone is nervous too. I'm sure they can sense how passionate you are and how hard you have worked so far. I don't think it matters if the interviewers showed reaction or not - if they don't smile doesn't mean that they don't like your answers. Btw I applied to NIU but UIC is my top choice. My chances to UIC are a little slim. My prereq gpa is good but my overall gpa is not that great.
The wait is killing me!
I honestly hope we all get in! Nursing prereqs are far from easy, and we all have worked our butts off to get to this point :). I also applied to Aurora Uni and just found out today that I was accepted into their school of nursing, but UIC is my top choice as well. I considered Aurora due to convenience and financial aid. Their clinicals are in my area as well. Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought it was hot in the classroom where we wrote the essay! Definitely uncomfortable lol! Best of luck to whomever still needs to interview and for all of us to be accepted!! :)

I had a similar experience as PaulDee. If you prepare yourself according to the questions on the guide, you should be fine because the impromptu questions were similar as those on the guide.
