Anyone's applied to the UIC fall 2014 BSN program?

Published

January 15 deadline has passed! I am extremely nervous and excited for April 2014 to come. I've been wondering. ..why does UIC take soooo long to make decisions for our applications? I am pretty scared because I did not apply at another University, all my marbles land on this ONE basket. All I can do is hope and pray I get in. Anyone that applied, feel free to post your comments and concerns on this thread. Best of luck to everyone!

I finally got the email! Thanks for the reassurance PaulDee. I'm sure you did great on your interview and thanks for the advice. I'm so nervous that I haven't even picked a date yet! :nailbiting:

You're welcome! I hope I did well. All I can do now is wait and hope for the best :). (Although April seems like a lifetime away, haha..) You'll do great too! Good luck :).

ok I have a question so I counted 320 interview slots for Chicago on that sign up page.. do you guys think this means that only 320 people (plus however many out of state students doing it through skype) qualified for an interview?? Or does this only count those who selected "Chicago only" as their campus of choice? I wonder how they arranged interviews for people who selected "Chicago but will take Urbana" or "Urbana but will take Chicago".. anyone here fall under that category?

UIC stated in the email that they are accepting 96 spots for the Chicago campus and 84 for Urbana. I'm not quite sure how many people were invited to interview, but I'm assuming as many spots as there were on the sign up list. I only applied for Chicago. I believe applicants in Urbana received an invite to interview on their campus, so they may have a different sign up list. Just to be on the safe side, I'll be looking at slim chances on being accepted... Still hopeful though :).

hey PaulDee,

could you please post the email you received from UIC? I applied to the Urbana campus and we didn't receive an email with any numbers.

Hello, if you received an email with an invite to interview, the statistics I posted were stated in the attachment. Not everyone has received an invite yet, however.

SerpentSorcerer, how did your interview go!?

Going off of bwcombo's comment above -how did you all feel about your performance in the interview/writing session (if you've already participated)? I had mine on Feb. 26th. Confident? Nervous? Anyone feel like they completely bombed (or aced) the interview?

Hey I had mine yesterday. Tbh I was really nervous, I wouldn't say that I "aced" it but I didn't bomb it either. I did the best I could at the time. I have to say though, that the other applicants I met yesterday were super nice and really on their A game :) for those of you who have your interview coming up, just relax and be yourself!

I was nervous too! Definitely just be yourself :). I'm glad we're done with that. I hope the interview process is able to help us leave a personal impact on the interviewers.

Aww that's good to hear SS. Did they really ask you guys the stuff on the interview guide? I've been going through the questions but I'm worried I'll be so nervous and forget what I've written. I hope to be prepared and make a lasting impression for sure.

Some questions are more impromptu, so you can't prepare for them in great detail. For the most part, the interviewers stick to the guide (in my case). I imagined the interview scene numerous times before my scheduled date -it didn't go exactly as planned, but I feel I did well :). It's an entirely different story when you're finally in front of the interviewers, but as long as you prepared beforehand, you should perform well :).
