hey, i took my teas about 2 weeks ago and came out with a combined score of 85%. 100 on the reading, 84 math, 44 science, 87 english. i was surprised i didnt score 90 and up on the math and english. english was trickier than i thought mainly the sentence structure got me. the science was tough since i used the ati study guide and they just dont cover enough physics, geology, chemistry, and some of the diagrams on the exam they provided were very ambiguous.
i am retaking the exam in 2 weeks and would like to be ready for it this time.
thanks
I found a link to the McGraw-Hill's Nursing School Entrance Exams book. Here is info about the book: http://www.amazon.com/McGraw-Hills-Nursing-School-Entrance-Exams/dp/0071599371/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1248996556&sr=8-1
Here is the .pdf download link (thanks to a fellow allnurses poster): hxtp://rapidshare.com/files/244641205/NursingSchoolentrance.pdf.html
As far as the content of the book is concerned, I found the science section to be quite extensive and easily comparable to the Kaplan version.
this was posted by fdlink earlier.
I just took the TEAS at the beginning of August and found out my results on friday. I did really well, and my advice is for you to buy the study guide AND the sample test from the website. It is exactly like the real test!
Here is what the scoring looks like (these are my exact scores):
Adjusted Individual Total Score: 86.5%
Mean-National: 72.8% (This is the AVERAGE of all U.S. test takers from the last 6 months, so the average is only in the 70's!)
Mean-Program: 66.2% (This is the AVERAGE of all U.S. test takers from the same program type, in my case LVN. The average grade of all applying for LVN was only 66.2%)
Percentile Rank-National: 94 (this is where you rank among everyone that has taken the TEAS in the last 6 months for all program types)
Percentile Rank-Program: 99 (this is where you rank among everyone that has taken the TEAS for your specific program type, in my case LVN)
I called ATI to get clarification on my scores as I was confused on the MEAN scores. I applied to two different schools, both of which told me that anything above an 80% on this test is good. As you can see the average grade is only 66% for the LVN program!
The math was extremely easy, and I really suck at math. Just study up on percents/ratios/fractions/decimals and you will do fine!
and as a side note I prayed a lot before and after mine *smiles*
how did your retest go tabitha? also how did yours go pandora? hope all went well.
I havent gone yet, I heard from another student yesterday that if you take it again, the second score is the one they use, even if it is worse. I am going to ask one of the academic advisors if this is true first.
If memory serves we were told at the Application meeting that you get to choose which set of scores is used but you can not combine scores. I would call academic advising and email the head of the nursing program just to be sure. There seems to be alot of misinformation floating around. Today someone said they heard the program is now first come first served (don't we wish).

I agree there does seem to be a lot of rumor and misinformation going around...And they have changed a few rules since the information session I attended in June.
I took the TEAS last Friday and scored:
Individual Score: 87.6%
National Rank: 96th percentile
Program Rank: 96th percentile
Reading Section: 90.0%
Math Section: 88.9%
Science Section: 90.0%
English Section: 85.5%
However, in the breakdown I had a couple of weak spots where I scored around 60-70% (metric conversions, spelling, sentence structure, and human body science).
How much weight is put on the individual breakdowns of the sections by most nursing schools? Or are they looking at overall score, percentiles, and sections scores? I'd hate to think that just because I didn't score very high on metric conversions that would outweigh being in the 96th percentile!
