to annine, science portion on tease is extremely broad. you have to know scientific reasoning, general science, life science, chemical science, physical science, and human body science. like i said its really broad, but usually its very basic stuff. planetary stuff, kinetic/potential energy, water cycle rocks, atomic structure, chemical bonding, oh knowing wave lengths wont hurt either. if someone has not mentioned the mcgraw hill study guide in previous post then i will mention it again. it covers more of the science areas then ati or kaplan (3r edition at least).

for rock types they will ask you a scenario like you are walking along a mountainous range and you come across a rock and you pick it up and you notice something about it. so what type of rock is this. so you if you know how each type looks like if split in half, where each type can be found, and under what conditions you will get the answer correct. there is only 3 types of rocks so once you get them down you will probably never forget it come test time.

to be honest, i thought the first exam i took was so much easier; its just i bombed the science portion because ati just didnt cover all the areas. for me the program where i am applying, scores the tease on points per category so you get 4 points for A, 3 for B, 2 for C, and i guess 1 for attempting. i was told i would need at least 13 out of 16 points from the teas to have a really good shot at getting in. if all goes well i hope to be in the spring program this upcoming year.

hey Lauren, personally out of the 3 study guides i used which was ati, kaplan 3rd edition, and the mcgraw hill that someone mentioned earlier with a free download; i would choose the mcgraw hill. that one seems to cover more of the stuff i remembered and its free.

hey everyone, well i retook the teas this friday 14aug2009 and i am elated to say the least. yes, i just got enough of what i need to apply for the program and have a good shot now. the first time i scored 86 overall, but got around 50 on the science this time i scored 86 overal again, but my science was around 83. the reason my percent went down even though my science went up is because i didnt do as well on the other subjects as i did the first time. like reading went from 100 to 92 and so forth. anyway, i got A in reading, B in math/science/english so again i am thrilled to death. to be honest when i was taking the test it was much harder the 2nd time and before i hit ok after the final subject i thought for sure i was not going to improve on my scores, but after i tallied up everything i got just enough to send in my application with confidence. so if anyone got any questions feel free to throw them my way and i will gladly pass on what i can remember.

elacer you are stressing way too much over the word problems. if you can do the math portion then you will do well in the math. as i mentioned before percentages and proportions seem to be the most emphasized. as for the science you should get another study guide for that if you have one shot and one shot only cause the ati science section did not help me much. unless you already know about general science, geology, physics, and what not then another guide is highly advised.

hey elacer, to be honest, i dont remember many fraction questions if any. proportions and percentages should be your biggest concern it seems that is what i remember most out of all the math.

hey Lauren, thanks for your input. i agree seems like there is only a handful of ap questions and the rest are stuff we dont encounter very often and the ati study guide should really consider adding those in. unless they are leaving it out on purpose who knows.

hey elacer08, yes conversions of that sort kilograms to inches i cant remember the exact one for that, but it was pretty basic so memorize like the conversion factors for weight, height, and length. as for percents yes there were several percent questions i would suggest making sure you get down all the how to get percent from numbers. like percent of this number or what is percent decrease/increase from the original number. stuff like that the study guide should cover it. as for celsius to farenheit. if you remember these 2 numbers you will never get it wrong. if you want to go from farenheit to celsius you take xx number in farenheit subtract 32, take next number and divide by 1.8 and you get celsius. vice versa from celsius to farenheit you take xx number in celsius, multiply by 1.8, take next number and add 32, and you get farenheit. however, when you go from celsius to farenheit you must multiply first. so if you remember those two numbers at least you can play around with them and come up with some kind of number.

hey elacer08, no the math is not bad at all. if you have the ati study guide the math there is very similar. on the exam i do remember a lot of conversions and percents. for english yes there are commas and definition questions, but pretty simple.

thanks tabitha247, yes the rocks got me too. oh i almost forgot another question which i had no clue.
