Anyone waiting for acceptance in NVCC nursing fall 2010?

Just was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as I am in applying for the FALL 2010 nursing at nvcc. Did anyone received their acceptance letter yet? thanks

I applied for the Traditional program, and got a letter saying that the program is now full, but that some people decline their acceptance, and if that is the case I may be notified prior to the start of the semester.

flames... we do have the math test to take at orientation. Thanks for the tip. I'm still kinda shocked at how much there is on the orientation site and everything that has to be completed before the start of the semester. I guess this is setting the pace for the next two years!

If you can finish the all the non-nursing classes prior to course start, that helps a great deal! I didn't work either and that helped a great deal as well. I just did the reading and went over it numerous times. That included the CD that came with the text books (you most likely are using different books than my class) As well quickly went over the questions at the end of the chapter! Funny how on occasion those questions popped again! And go over the math package if they sent you one. The questions won't be the same, but the style will most likely be. Most common mistakes are people not reading the question properly and not ROUNDING off properly!! I think i have stressed that a few times now, lol. We had 1 gal fail the course on the last semester as she failed the drug calc. exam! You only get 1 rewrite! Doesn't matter if you have a high 90% avg! Saying that, the calc exams are not difficult, just a bit more stressful as they mean a lot.

I have all of the non-nursing classes complete except for medical terminology and pharmocology which I am taking now. I've heard that really helps. Do you get one re-write for all of the drug calculation exams or all of the exams for all classes taken throughout the 2 years?

Each semester (maybe except the 1st one) you will write a drug dosage calc exam. With each dosage exam, if u fail it, u get only 1 rewrite!! The other exams you will have have no re-writes! So if you do crappy on one of those, you need to do well on the others to pull ur mark up.

The normal exams are multiple choice, using scan tron sheets! The drug dosage exams, one has to do the work and provide the answer--no multiple choice!!

Well the wait is over. Got into the LPN to RN program, thank God.

Thanks for the info flames9. It's REALLY helpful.

Congrats acibrix!

Hi all,

I also applied to the traditional nursing track for fall 2010, and I received a notification in May that they received my application.

I haven't gotten anything notifying me as to whether I got in the program yet (and its driving me crazy!). Any thoughts? I just want to know already!

I would call them. There is a lot to get done if you are accepted including the math test that you have to take at orientation. You don't want to miss out on study time. It can't hurt to check on it.

Congrats acibrix!! I didn't get in and I was really bummed. If you don't mind can you tell me what your GPA was. Did you have a previous degree? I have a 3.0. I just want to know what I have to compete with for the next time around!!! Any info would be great. Thanks!

I got in and am looking at all the requirements we have to complete this summer. With all that is required, I am glad I have all my general education requirements already taken care of and do not have to take any courses this summer. Also, it seems like a lot of work the next 2 years just taking the core nursing classes, so I am especially glad not to have to deal with the additional coursework. I have to admit I already have my bachelors in another area, so NOVA gave me credit for the humanities and communication courses.

I just got an email saying the acceptance letters had gone out for the Momentum program (I am only interested in Traditional). They are asking students accepted into Traditional and also Momentum or a program at another school to qickly let them know if they are choosing to go someplace other than the Traditional program (Not me, I am real happy and thankful to be in the Traditional program).

It is getting crazy competetive, with a sizable wait list for the 2010 Traditional and only 17 of 90 applicants accepted into this summer's Accelerated program.
