Let's have some fun learning. Each person should throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember" before taking your finals, HESI, NCLEX, etc.
Updated:
OK I know this sounds stupid but I have a friend that gets really freaked out before big tests like finals, HESI, NCLEX, and usually we get together and a few days before I start throwing out random facts at her. On 2 different tests she said the only way she got several questions was from the random facts that I threw at her that she never would have thought of!
SOOOOO..... I thought that if yall wanted to do this we could get a thread going and try to throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember". NCLEX is coming and the more I try to review content the more I realize that I have forgotten so......here are my 5 random facts for ya:
OH and BTW these came from rationales in Kaplan or Saunders no made up stuff:
1️⃣ A kid with Hepatitis A can return to school 1 week within the onset of jaundice.
2️⃣ After a patient has dialysis they may have a slight fever...this is normal due to the fact that the dialysis solution is warmed by the machine.
3️⃣ Hyperkalemia presents on an EKG as tall peaked T-waves
4️⃣ The antidote for Mag Sulfate toxicity is ---Calcium Gluconate
5️⃣ Impetigo is a CONTAGEOUS skin disorder and the person needs to wash ALL linens and dishes seperate from the family. They also need to wash their hands frequently and avoid contact.
Oh, ohh, one more...
? Vasopressin is also known as antidiuretic hormone
OK your turn....
Hi everyone,am new to this site, I am retaking my nclex exam december 17th, any december test takers.?
Hi Sirisiri,
Welcome... There is a thread going on about december test takers it is a support group. Just click on NCLEX forum on the search box and you should be able to find the thread. You will have alot of supporters on the same boat as you...
GOODLUCK and GOD BLESS...
Dear Silverdragon102,Thank you for the clarification!...I thought a person could join Suzanne's Plan as soon as her First Tip was completed. feliz3
As long as you meet her requirements you can join her plan but she will not send it out if longer than 2 months before you sit the exam. She will wait until near the 2 month date
Dear mesmerizex,Thank you for addressing the information contradiction. I have Saunders 3rd and 4th editions, and indeed Silvestri says on page 237 in the 3rd edition and on page 255 in the 4th edition that the esophageal balloon should be inflated to 25-45 mmHg.
My mistake was to write down the pressure in the cuff of an endotracheal tube instead of the pressure in the balloon of an endotracheal tamponade. The endotracheal tube is for providing ventilation while the endotracheal balloon tamponade is for treating bleeding esophageal varices, sorry about that.

If you go to Saunders 4th edition, chapter 21 and page 257, under the subject of Interventions it says: " Monitor cuff pressures at least every 8 hours per agency procedure to ensure that they (referring to endotracheal tube cuff pressure) do not exceed 20 mmHg."
I apologize for my mistake and thank you for pointing it out.
Best, feliz3
Its ok :wink2: Thank you for your reply and posts here. You are very much appreciated! take care always

Dearest Taimanov,
I wish you the best in your career as a registered nurse. I am very glad you shared with us the good news, and send to you a sincere congratulations message on a job well done. Thanks, feliz3
PS These are for you.

hello everyone i wanted to share that i passed nclex-rn took test nov 25 it stopped at 77 questions due to the holidays it did not appear till dec 2. i shared my passing with few people.
none of my questions repeated which i had heard if you make mistakes it would do this. i had no math calculations i had a variety of subjects (i can not mention them sorry due to the paper you sign) but i can say, medications, including herbals know how they interact with certain medications, one tv medication & its side effects, prioritization who you see first, delegation to staff , med-surg type questions diseases, ob & peds, and of course infection control lots of them and chortling of roommates & patient teaching.
the questions are not out to fool you but to make sure your a safe nurse. i feel that if you know your material (look at the test plan for rn or lvn see what they expect you to know) then study. by reading the posting here and take time to look up what you are not familiar with as you make flash cards or write/type notes these are very important to help get information into your brain. then re-read your notes as often as you can. i did not read a nclex book but instead used it as reference. i used no strategies just my knowledge.
than do questions reading and learning the rationales you will do well on the nclex. do about 25 or even as few as 10 but do questions through out the day. doing thousands of them gets you ready for the big day and you will remember the rationales and learn the material. you scores will increase as you practice.
when doing the exam just remember do not rush ... spend as much time on the 75 question read it over and over till you understand what is being asked. i use the mouse pointer to slow me down as i placed it on each word as i read the questions whispering it. than i would read the question again with each answer. than when i felt i knew what was asked i would then answer the question.
they also supply you with a white board write down you labs from the test plan and any of the mnemonics you learned here and infection control so that you can see this with out having to remember because when you first start you are not as nervous jot it down as you go on more chance of forgetting.
tips
practiced questions from: prentice hall, nclex 4000, ncsbn, kaplan cd saunders cd, mosby flash cards, saunders flash cards, fa. davis nclex notes, (all for test questions)
most important postings on: anyoone up for random fact throwing?? i share what i learned every day i typed my rationales to share with you and learn the concepts for that day as well.
write: daily write out labs on white board and other items
read:
nclex -rn review 2nd edition pearls of wisdom pub mcgraw hill prioritization, delegation & assignment by linda lacharity mosby
so thank you all that have posted you helped me in my obtaining my dream and i thank you!
i hope this gives you an idea how i studied. hope my tips help you …
now go conquer the nclex-rn/lvn you can do it too !!
