Anyone Up For Random FACT THROWING??

Let's have some fun learning. Each person should throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember" before taking your finals, HESI, NCLEX, etc.

Updated:

OK I know this sounds stupid but I have a friend that gets really freaked out before big tests like finals, HESI, NCLEX, and usually we get together and a few days before I start throwing out random facts at her. On 2 different tests she said the only way she got several questions was from the random facts that I threw at her that she never would have thought of!

SOOOOO..... I thought that if yall wanted to do this we could get a thread going and try to throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember". NCLEX is coming and the more I try to review content the more I realize that I have forgotten so......here are my 5 random facts for ya:

OH and BTW these came from rationales in Kaplan or Saunders no made up stuff:

1️⃣ A kid with Hepatitis A can return to school 1 week within the onset of jaundice.

2️⃣ After a patient has dialysis they may have a slight fever...this is normal due to the fact that the dialysis solution is warmed by the machine.

3️⃣ Hyperkalemia presents on an EKG as tall peaked T-waves

4️⃣ The antidote for Mag Sulfate toxicity is ---Calcium Gluconate

5️⃣ Impetigo is a CONTAGEOUS skin disorder and the person needs to wash ALL linens and dishes seperate from the family. They also need to wash their hands frequently and avoid contact.

Oh, ohh, one more...

? Vasopressin is also known as antidiuretic hormone

OK your turn....

Heres my 5: (I take my NCLEX RN tomorrow) AHHH!

1.) The use of tissue plasminogen activator (TPA), streptokinase is contraindicated if the patient has had any recent (within 2 months) trauma --->(CPR)

2.) Digoxin: Digitalizing Dose is 1-2.5, maintenance dose is 0.125-0.5, and the average dose is 0.25.

3.) Think of the o in miotic as a little o (meaning that miotics are used to constrict the pupil).

4.) When an IV has infiltrated first action is to remove the IV and place warm towels in the site.

5.) The cardinal sign of a hemolytic blood transfusion reaction is back pain.

never take out an HL if an IV infiltrates; if its something that can harm the surrounding tissue. some meds are very harmful to surrounding tissue and can cause necrosis. dr's usually say leave the HL in site. there is an antidote for some meds. my minds going blank of the med but i remember i had a question like that on the addmission test for the job i got at my hospital. only remove a HL if its something like D50.45, LR, or NS :smokin:

keep um coming!!

Hi Guys

NClex was hard for me . I Had about 15 meds , 6 Infection control and 2 Calculations. Some how I did finish with 85Qs and will see the result any time soon. I do recomend ppl to read on ABx and how they interact each other...U dont need to study every thing but try to remenber things using either thier's sufix or prefix ... those things are written well on mosby's ( medicine part). cahpert 3 Other than that Saunders and Kaplan were great.
