Let's have some fun learning. Each person should throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember" before taking your finals, HESI, NCLEX, etc.
Updated:
OK I know this sounds stupid but I have a friend that gets really freaked out before big tests like finals, HESI, NCLEX, and usually we get together and a few days before I start throwing out random facts at her. On 2 different tests she said the only way she got several questions was from the random facts that I threw at her that she never would have thought of!
SOOOOO..... I thought that if yall wanted to do this we could get a thread going and try to throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember". NCLEX is coming and the more I try to review content the more I realize that I have forgotten so......here are my 5 random facts for ya:
OH and BTW these came from rationales in Kaplan or Saunders no made up stuff:
1️⃣ A kid with Hepatitis A can return to school 1 week within the onset of jaundice.
2️⃣ After a patient has dialysis they may have a slight fever...this is normal due to the fact that the dialysis solution is warmed by the machine.
3️⃣ Hyperkalemia presents on an EKG as tall peaked T-waves
4️⃣ The antidote for Mag Sulfate toxicity is ---Calcium Gluconate
5️⃣ Impetigo is a CONTAGEOUS skin disorder and the person needs to wash ALL linens and dishes seperate from the family. They also need to wash their hands frequently and avoid contact.
Oh, ohh, one more...
? Vasopressin is also known as antidiuretic hormone
OK your turn....
Thank you so much for your prayers and support but I guess it's not to be:cry:...just found out that I failed. All I want to do is crawl in my cave for a day or two but I'm not done yet...This thread helped me a lot, please keep it going. I shall return.
Take time off to focus on yourself. I am so sorry to hear you did not do well this time. Be sure to come back and you'll nail that NCLEX next time.
Glad to hear you plan to return.
ALOT of those who graduated at the same time I did failed the first time too. Stay positive most of all.Second, keep the facts coming. It is a great way to study and keeps your mind focused. Read this thread from the start . Also look at the infection control thread and the obscure diseases threads. Keep thinking about patient safety too. :loveya: All we can do is stay positive and pray. Good luck on the 16th of September.
Keep the facts coming :typing..........................................................
Thanks Melinurse-- I am just worried because Kaplan said that I need to be scoring 65 or higher... I took Kaplan the first time around and I was scoring like low 50s on everything. So I am scoring higher, but definitely not in their range.
I scored 56% or lower. Passed NCLEX. I also had a big SATA problem = I could not get a darn one right. Then for NCLEX holy , I had soooo many SATAs. I thought because of that I had failed. I knew that I knew those questions and their answers but I felt like too many SATAs = failed. However, I was wrong. Passed first time with 75 questions. This thread was a BIG BIG help.
Keep studying and keep adding in facts. Find what works for you. Always remember, what works for one does not always work for someone else.

Hi everyone-- I have a question. I have been reading this thread for about a week and I LOVE it and today I started posting facts that I have come across that I don't think have been posted before.I have already taken the NCLEX once and unfortunately I didn't pass (106 questions if you were wondering...) I think it was completely my fault because I thought that since I did well in nursing school there was no chance I wouldn't pass, but oh how wrong I was.
ANWAYS-- I am scoring like 55-65% on my Kaplan tests and about the same on other question sets I have found. I am scheduled to take it again on Sept 16, but I do not know if I am doing well enough to take it...

I feel that since failing, I have learned SO MUCH INFORMATION (props to this thread as well as my other studying) but what do you guys think?? Postpone or what? Unfortunetly I have a job lined up and they were nice enough to give me a second chance, but I really can't blow it this time around....
Any thoughts?? HELP?? haha please I just need some advice.
Thanks! KEBFDC
If you really don't feel ready, postpone it. I remember reading someone's suggestions and them saying this as well. It's not worth taking another loss...you know where you stand and if you're as ready as you're gonna be or if you need more work..
Just wanted to say Thanks to Everyone for this Thread. Although, I already have my license, I still frequently visit this thread. I told a few classmates about it. Unfortunately, most do not own a computer. But some do access the site at school.
Keep up with supporting one another. What an Excellent Job you guys are doing.
