Just wondering if there were any nurses or nursing students here from Tennessee? Thanks, Sandy.
Hi SpecFuz,
Nashville is great! You will love it! I lived up in CT about 45 min from NYC for about four years. It is definitely a different culture down here from up north but it is great. The weather is definitely one of biggest differences. One of my best friends from CT was down in July and kept saying "this heat is just deadly". It is pretty hot in the summer, but we generally have mild winters and beautiful spring and fall seasons. I have looked into probably all of the BSN programs in the area. Some other schools you should look at are: Belmont, Aquinis (I think that is how it is spelled), and Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt also has a bridge program to a MSN if you would be interested in that, but Vandy is VERY expensive. I think MTSU is supposed to be pretty good though. You can do all your coursework online for the RN to BSN and arrange your clinicals on an individual basis (at least that is what I have heard). Good luck in your search!
speaking of Tennessee........
just received this interesting article concerning lowering nurses salaries there by 30%........

Nurses might want to boycott this company
SpecFuz,
I am currently taking classes at Columbia State for the RN program. I have heard MTSU has a great program(I have not yet looked into it myself). I am orginally from Michigan and left there in Jan. 1997 and then moved here to Tennessee in Sept. 1997 and I don't miss it!!! I love it down here. Talk to ya later!
Hi all! -- Great to see so many nurses from Tennessee!!! And Columbia State students, too! Graduated from that program 4 years ago ( Columbia campus). Have been working in Long Term Care since graduation, and love it! I'm originally from West Virginia... moved here 18+ years ago. I still have occasional problems with "culture shock", but I don't miss the snow and cold weather at all!
Hello to all of you ...I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. My dh and I are considering moving back to TN....NOT Memphis. I have not lived in Memphis for 12 years because my dh is active duty.
Opry Land Gone/????? Wow!!! hard to believe. That would have been a disappointment to find if we had attempted to visit there on our way to across country.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone :)

I'm an RN, living in Chattanooga, working at a teaching hospital downtown. I moved here after 15 years in Nashville, where I earned by BSN at TSU & worked at a teaching hospital there as well.
I love Chattanooga! So family friendly! Important with a 5 year-old!
later ya'll. Time to go home!
