Anyone taking Micro with Nursing?

Published

I asked this before but got no response so I thought I'd try again. I have to take micro next semester along with nsg 203. There are about 5 others in my class who have to take this as well, so at least I'm not alone right? :uhoh3: I was wondering if anyone could tell me what their experience was like when and if they did it. I'm kinda anxious about it and would love some advice. I need all the encouragement I can get.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi,

I took mine ahead of time but one of the students in my class took Micro during our first semester of nursing and did fine. It was extra work of course but she's a nurse now! Jules

I took Micro in between my 1st and 2nd semesters of nursing during the summer....piece of cake!!

We were required to have micro done before we even got on the wait list!

So were we!!! That made it easy...but you can do it!!! Just do not get behind in either class and you should be just fine;)

Thank you guys. Unfortunately I couldn't take mine before now and I'm afraid it's going to cause me to fail. My husband is having to sacrifice a lot for me to take this extra class as 3 days out of the week I won't be home until 5 which means he'll have to leave work earlier to care for the kids. I really don't care at this point of I get a C in micro as long as I pass 3rd semester nursing. :lol2: I took A&P II with fundamentals and it was really time consuming and I missed a few A&P classes, but I did fine. Hopefully I'll have this experience again with micro. We'll see in two weeks.

Micro and A&P both had to be done before I could even apply

I took Micro last summer and it went pretty fast, I'm glad I did because if I took it together with the subsequent courses such as Health Assessment and Pathophysiology, it would have been too much. Micro is big in itself considering the laboratory part.

I took Micro with my nursing classes last semester (3rd semester of nursing), and it went very well. It was somewhat difficult at times making the time for it along with all of the nursing courses, but all in all it went fine.

Was you micro instructor pretty lenient with the nursing students? I've heard ours at our school will not schedule tests around the nursing test schedules. I hope that's true.

I ended up having to take Micro as a Saturday course so that it wouldn't interfere with the days I had to leave "open" for clinicals, so in a way that did work to my advantage - never had a nursing test on the same day! It sure did make for a long day on Saturday, though, between lecture and lab.

Saturday class would be nice. Unfortunately our classes are 4 hours each on Mon & Wed. I chose my clinical to be on Thursdays (we got a Tues, Thurs option). I think the Tuesday off in between those 2 hectic days will be nice and much needed. But what stinks is that when our psych rotation comes along (mid-semester) it will be on Tuesdays so I won't have any days off. Oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do right?

Thanks for the reply!
