We are being offered the Hurst Review for the NCLEX, but it is $350 for a 3 day review. I'm wondering if it is worth the money...any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!

I've seen Marlene Hurst speak when I was in nursing school. If I knew it was she who was giving it, I wouldn't hesitate to pay the money. She was FABULOUS. But I think her program has gotten pretty big in the past 8 years since she was personally coming to student nurse conferences and she no longer does the reviews herself. So I can't speak to how well her associates put on the program.

I saw her speak in nursing school as well at a convention. I was wowed. Our class decided to pay for the Hurst review and the class was divided about 50/50 as to whether they felt it was worth it or not. Marlene Hurst did not conduct our review but we did watch some videos of her presenting lessons, this was in 2005. I personally thought it was worth the money.

I did it and I liked it for content review.. I also used kaplan strategies that helped also.. Marlene is great, she is fun, funny and gives the info a way you WILL remember her voice in your head while taking NCLEX. She does not go to the reviews, they are on DVD's with her and then the live instructor continues, then it goes back to the DVD's with Marlene.. Also the info that is not cover in the live review is on DVDs for at home use.. Lots of questions on there... It is expensive but I didn't regret paying the money :)

I took the review and found it very helpful, I like fast paced and it was fast paced. We went through a bunch of helpful relearning rapidly. I think it is worth the money and I passed NClex no problems first try.
HA! I heard her in my head too while taking the NCLEX. I passed the first time too.
At one point during the test, I LOL because she was talking in my head.. Too funny.. I passed also, first try :) Many of my classmates said the same thing.. Glad I wasn't going crazy...

My school forced us to take Hurst Review as a requirement for our capstone class. We were charged $350 on our tuition bill. At first I was annoyed that I was forced to take the review; however, the presenter was sooooooooo much better then "listening" to the professors for 4 days straight. I enjoyed the multi levels of learning (auditory, visual, video, 5th day of review, on-line questions, etc). We did cover a ton of material but she broke the day up so it was not too overwhelming. I wish the presenter would have been one of my professors-I learned way more from her that I should of known earlier. She also used associations to help remember the material. I also passed on my attempt for the NCLEX. I would highly recommend Hurst. I loved the book too (fill in the blanks).

I took the review in 2010... fantastic!!! A lot of people are talking about how they heard Marlene's voice during the NCLEX but I still hear her voice as I'm working on the floor! Our reviewer was very personable and knowledgeable as well. I passed the NCLEX in 75 questions... it was well worth the money! If you can spend it, definitely do it!

I did the online review course. It's a very help tool to gain general nursing knowledge, but I feel it does not prepare you for the NCLEX. I passed with 75, but did not feel confident at all coming out of it like others did. I know I shouldn't complain, but if I were spending money on a review, I'd do Kaplan. It seems like that prepares you more and gives you testing strategies. I really would go through each question thinking "Where the hell is the stuff Marlene went over??".
