Anyone take the HESI?

what was your score?

i got a 790 :o but since thne i have taken two review classes and studied my head off

721,835,859. I need a 900 with only one more try.

We had to take the HESI to get our validation papers. The minimum score was a 900 ..luckily I got a 981, but I thought that some of the answers were really off the wall. I really didn't care for the HESI too much. It seems as if the HESI gives points for the question answered..the harder ones are more points than the easier ones. So you could be getting all of the easy ones right, and the some of the hard ones wrong..and that makes or breaks you. I think the way to pass the HESI is to answer the ques. the way how they want you to...like odd man out and looking at certain "key" words. Go back over their instructions and remember answer by the text book..as a LPN I would choose answers off of what I would do at work. In the textbook..LPNs are really at the bottom of the ladder..not allowed to assess etc. They said think of it as the perfect world..where the floor is staffed and the patients s/s are textbook. I really hope the NCLEX-RN is nothing like the HESI..7 of my classmates have passed so far and they say that it isn't. Hope this helps..Keep your spirits up..I know it is really stressful. Good luck

Took HESI August 9, we had to make 800 or better, I made 964. It was a very weird test!

does anyone have tips on how to make a good score for hesi. i took my first hesi ever and made an 864 , im dissapointed because we need a 900 to pass. we have one more chance before graduation. the pressure is on. Would taking an nclex review course like kaplan help me for the hesi ? any books that would help for hesi? i studied from the hesi review book but did not find the test to correlate with the book. HELP!!!!

My concern about Hesi is that it is only suppose to be used as a diagnostic tool to identify your area of weakness. Unfortunately most schools are using it as an exit exam, do you know that if our colleagues do not pass the Hesi exam they must repeat second year over again? It is used as an exit exam so the school can advertise that they have 99% NCLEX passing rate and with that high percentage the colleges receive grants, and funding. It is all about the money. Instead of assisting the students with their weakness they mandate that if you fail you repeat second year. If Hesi is a good identifier for areas of weakness why is it that you passed the nursing course?

It should be State Board that decides whether you are competent as a nurse not your school. Also, did you know that most colleges like ours is witholding our diploma until we pass Hesi. Is this constitutional? Did we not earned this degree? Did you know that the foreign nurses does not have to take their CGFNS before taking state board, they can no just take state board?

I wish someone would take a stand. This is so unfair. Is there anyone out there who cares anymore????

Unfortunately, the right to a degree is not listed in the constitution! In my school, at the very first orientation, it was made known to us that we needed to pass HESI. Now if you can't do that and it is a requirement of the course, then no, you did not earn your degree.

Now I know a girl that failed the HESI 3 times. They threatened to not let her pass. Instead, she had to take a week long NCLEX review course, and show proof of completion. She then was allowed to pass. She passed the NCLEX on her first try.

Kaplan is entirely different from Hesi in terms of how the questions are worded and also the format. Kaplan prepares you for Nclex and is designed for those who have completed the nursing program. Except you study ahead, there are quite a few topics which you may feel so lost simply because you are yet to do that in your school. However, i can say that it would eventually pay off if you do it like a month to the end of your final semester in school. I did Kaplan like in April, graduated in May and did my Nclex first week in June. I still had access to Kaplan course materials until i did my nclex. I didn't tell a lot of people because even the ones i told was like, this is crazy, can't you even wait, it's a waste of money bla bla bla... Anyhow, I was on top in my class for Hesi and passed nclex with ease... I'm quite sure kaplan was very helpful for me in narrowing those weired hesi questions down. Anyways, i wish you and all the hesi takers good luck!! YOU CAN DO IT! Tell yourself that every single day...

That is fine if the school made you aware of the Hesi exam during your orientation. Unfortunately, our school revised our policy and inserted HESI when we were in our second year. Now, we have to sign a contract that if we don't pass we repeat second year or be placed for an LPN program. One classmate failed HESI and she was working as a Nurse tech, the hospital terminated her for not passing HESI two months after that she lost her house and she has two little girls. Another student is living in a van trying to find a job because no one would hire her, after failing HESI. Does this matter to anyone? And both individual are competent and have excellent work ethics, which is an upmost important character for a nurse. Is it our fault that our school did not prepare us for this type of exam. I hear from everyone who has taken Hesi and NCLEX that neither test are the same, that NCLEX is placed in simplier terms. Therefore, for three years of sacrifice we receive nothing. We are seeing our classmates become homeless and there is no one to help them.
