Anyone take the HESI?

i took the hesi interim half-way thru my nursing program and the hesi exit in order to get out and graduate. on both tests i scored around 1150 (97%probability of passing boards). I prepared with the HESI review book and cd that you can buy offline or in bookstores. I think they are awesome review materials and will also be using them, in addition to a Kaplan course, to prepare for boards.

I agree that the HESI study guide is helpful - if you have time, try to review the little gray boxes titled "HESI Hints" just before the test because some questions will be related to those hints.

http://www.hesitest.com buy the cd and do the practice questions over and over -- read all the rationales. Buy the book if have time and read the "hints" (mostly I used the cd)

Our school required a 850 to pass, this year they are upping it to 900. I made something in the 1200's .. I got the 99.99% I didn't realize what it meant until reading this forum! lol. I helped my confidence going into the nclex... passed with 75 questions and was not that worried post-test. Our school has a 100% pass rate on the nclex, but if you can't make the required score on the hesi you don't graduate from nursing school. It really sucks. We lost two seniors (bsn) to the hesi.

Uggh, I have the comprehensive HESI at the beginning of February. I am so used to multiple choice scantron exams, when I took the med-surg HESI (25% of a 6-credit course grade), I accidentally secrificed a few questions before I realized that you can't just skip questions and then go back to them later. I just took the HESI exit and scored 975, our school need 900 to exit. There are about 165 questions and got lot of delegation, prioritizing and psych questions.

i took the HESI exam for our LPN to RN mobility the first semester... we had no classes the first semester, just the HESI as validation for the course, and clinical check-offs if we passed the HESI (IV's, phlebotomy, trach care, wound care, all on dummies, of course) i did very very well on the HESI (95 conversion score) but out of the 35 LPNs in our class, only 15 of us passed, and that was after everyone had 3 chances to "pass" it with an 85%..... so sad, all of those LPNs didnt make it,,,,,,, we were supposed to review basic LPN topics to prepare for the exam, had 4 months to study for it, but i think that the LPNs thought it would be a breeze, and didnt even open up a book..... i studied for 4 months straight on every topic and book i could get my hands on, and it payed off.... i am integrating with the 2nd year RN students this month...... and those 4 little months of studying paid off well. the only problem is, i have three semesters left, and every semesters end... you guessed it.. another HESI : )

I take my comprehensive HESI on May 17th...3 days before graduation :bluecry1:

We've had test Hesi's after each section to help us prepare for the BIG test :confused:

I will just be glad when all of this is OVER!!!!

HESI was a dream. I can only hope and pray that the NCLEX in somewhat similiar. I got a 1098 and I took it cold. Didn't review a thing. We also needed an 850 to pass. 160 comprehensive questions. But, I know that the NCLEX will be harder.

I really needed to hear those words from you today. I am currently taking the HESI review this week and taking the test on Monday (4/17). The community college I attend has different locations and one of the locations took their HESI exam on Friday; out of 50 students, only 15 passed. I was shocked! My friend who attends that school made a 1044, so I was thrilled for her. My friend told me she felt like it was more test taking skills and strategies that helped her pass the test. Of course, you gotta know the material as well.

Well, I found out in orientation last week that we will be required to take the HESI at the end of each semester (5X in total). We are required to get an 85% on the third one (following m/s 2) to go onto mother/baby, pediatrics and public health. What exactly is 85%? With scores in the thousands, what would an 85% be?

My score converted out to a 99.64%. So I think you probably have the same score to achieve as a lot of people-probably 850? Most places require an 850-900 to pass.

I was using the Sanuders book to study for my last semster of NS, and when I got to the HESI, I found that a lot of the questions came right from that book. I would say that book is the best way to prepare for anything! We had to take 3 HESI's , but the final comprehensive one is interesting, because it's your last chance to find out what topics you are weak in.
